no chance at that price for me. Me either. Given the Quality Control issues Audeze has had in the past. Mostly, I believe that their is no headphone worth that kind of money. For that price I would buy a nice pair of speakers. These price increases are ridiculous. When will they want $10,000 for a headphone? It was only 3 years ago that $1000 was TOTL. Are any of these newer headphones really worth the price? My opinion is no. Not even close. In many cases the sound is worse. If we stop buying and trying this over priced crap, maybe they will work on making better sounding headphones at prices that the average person would pay.

As long as people are willing to fork out $ 6000.- for the Abyss or even more for a Stax setup with Posh amp these headphones will sell.
There are people doshing out > $30,000 for amplifiers and DAC's. I can't blame manufacturers for trying to eat a piece of that pie with headphones as well.
It isn't a large pie but it will pay for development and then there is ownership and exclusivity.
For some people the (possibly) small increase in SQ could be worth it, Not for me. the ETHER price is as high as I may go.

For some people the (possibly) small increase in SQ could be worth it, Not for me. the ETHER price is as high as I may go. The manufacturer has every right to charge what they want. If people what to pay that's fine. But I do think that the sound quality and QC of these products should be very high. And I am finding the opposite too often today. I have heard some very costly products that have sound quality issues, that lower priced cans do not. Also the sound is inconsistent between pairs of the same model. Lastly they seem to fail at too high a rate for the money in my humble opinion. I own a couple of high end headphones. I like them both. But both sound better or no better than any of the muti-thousand dollar models that have come out in the last couple of years. Again that's my ears. At some point as you say Frans, the pie will be to small and a price ceiling will be hit. I hope. But to each their own. Not saying I'm not interested in hearing the LCD 4. As long as they don't belong to me!

If I had 6 big ones to spend on headphones I'd buy a Quadzilla instead. Or a Citroen DS21
