01. Remember Remember - The Dancing - (Remember Remember) Innovative Glasgow 'band' consisting of Graeme Ronald plus collaborators. Very big on the DIY approach to music making.
Listening again, it sounds spookily similar to Ashra Temple's '77 Slightly Delayed! Loads and loads of looped samples, repetitive guitar riffs laid over the top, etc, etc. Maybe Ronald's a Manuel Gottsching fan?
02. Royksopp - Skulls (The Inevitable End) Norwegian duo Torbjorn Brundtland and Svein Berge. Melodic, rhythmic electronica. I really like all of their stuff.
03. Sigur Ros - Hoppipolla (Takk) Sounding like absolutely no-one else is Icelandic trio Sigur Ros, named after lead vocalist Jonsi Birgisson's younger sister. Mix absolutely unique falsetto vocals, to lush string arrangements and quirky electronic beats, and you get Sigur Ros.
04. The Orb - Earth Orbit One - Little Fluffy Clouds. (The Orb's Adventure's Beyond The Ultraworld) Formed by a roadie for Killing Joke (Alex Paterson), and a member of KLF (Jimmy Cauty). The voice talking about clouds at the beginning is Rickie Lee Jones.
05. Theivery Corporation - Lebanese Blond (The Mirror Conspiracy) Mix rhythmic jazz, bossa-nova and dub. Out pops Theivery Corporation. Great music.
06. Tycho - A Walk (Dive) Basically Scott Hansen. A very under-rated musician/band.
07. William Orbit - Montauk Point (Strange Cargo:Hinterland) William Mark Wainright. Renaissance man for the noughties? Guitarist, producer (Katie Melua, Madonna), studio builder, fashion model, super-star remixer ( The Cure, Seal, Peter Gabriel, Prince, Depeche, etc, etc).
08. Yello - On Track (Pocket Universe) What can you say about Yello? A favourite band of this forum. Superb musicianship, superb arrangements, unbelievable production, etc, etc, etc, . . .
09. Younger Brother - Weird On A Monday Night (A Flock Of Bleeps) Another forum favourite. Younger Brother consists of Posford and Vaughan. The very first track posted in the DIYAH 'What I'm Listening To At The Moment' thread, now nearly two years old!
10. Zero 7 - Somersault (When It Falls)
Zero 7 is a British duo consisting of Henry Binns and Sam Hardaker. They began as studio engineers and in 1997 formed the group Zero 7. This track features Sia, long before she gained any exposure in her own right.
