Yep that's what they told me as well. April
@mcoll. Those JBL's are high value indeed and IMO best in their price range. In a quiet room you can hear a slight hiss though (when using as near field monitors)

If we're to deviate a bit, the hiss may not be so "slight". My first pair I returned, because the hiss was loud enough to hear from 2 meters away, with my (not quiet) PC being 1 meter away. And when using near field for piano playing the hissing was simply too loud to stand. In quiet passages I would hear it over the music. Simply unacceptable. I bought a second pair, this time used, from a seller that swore there's no hissing even up-close. Unfortunately he was in another part of the country, so no testing, but I thought if I will have to live with the hiss, at least I'll live with it for less money. Maybe I would have chosen a different product, but I haven't seen anything close in price that would give at least similar quality. The hiss in the second pair was a lot quieter, but still perfectly audible near field (1m away). At least I couldn't hear it across the room. Looking up the situation on the internet, I saw there are quite a few reports of strong hiss, while others state they're completely quiet. I guess it has to do with production quality. Also, another displeasing fact is that the baffle of the sub rattles around the G2-A2 and G3-A3 notes. If it were not for these problems in quality, they would be simply amazing.

I heard a Dynaudio (3x as expensive) at the same time as well as may others (Macky, Genelec etc). If it weren't for the hiss and the leap in SQ from to the Dynaudio I may have taken a set home.
Instead I ended using my DALI Lektor 1's with a sub as nearfields (used them as rear speakers before this)

I've sent a mail to Thomann, they replied that the HD662 Evo will arrive on 8th March as expected. That's soon! Also sent Superlux an email, the HD668B MKII will come out second half year in 2016.

Thanks Frans. Those plots after really simple mods look so good that I ordered one to try.

You won't be disappointed. It's the headphone I use the most these days.
Needs those mods though but they are VERY sinple to do.

Yes. With that frequency reaponse, they look like a really good buy. Ther's a bit of hangover in Fran's 'splurge' graphs but it looks great for a £25 headphone. The mods look like nothing much at all. Just a bit of covering up the drivers and blocking a couple of vents. Dead easy.
It's a great intro for someone who'd like to see how you can improve something with cheap mods, without risking a load of money. I was chuffed at the results that I got on the T50 and this one is even easier.
How do they even make a headphone with spare pads at this price?

I have been looking for a long time to find a decent headphone for cheap money to take on holiday with me and @ £25 they look like a right bargain. I have looked at the mods and they seem easy enough to do. Any idea what the isolation is like - thinking of when I am travelling on the plane, would I hear too much outside interference from the planes engines?

I've flown in a lot of planes with headphones, Chris and really, noise cancelling ones are the way to go. Although closed headphones do isolate, unfortunately, bass frequencies never really get stopped at all well so you are normally very aware of the rumble. If tou don't mind consistent rumble, then closed are ok, but you might need them to be quite loud.
Another thing that I have found in some aircraft is that bass response becomes thin. Therefore the rumble is more annoying. Probably something to do with air pressure.
I use noise cancelling on planes but closed headphones elsewhere.
Cheap noise cancelling though are a waste of money. Poor sound and hiss a problem.
