I'm looking forward to the Superlux. I'm curious about them as well. Not like I really need more headphones though!!! Wit the bass distortion thing, I don't think many realise that the hd650 also has some healthy distortion down there in the bass. Even when it's raised by the Kameleon, it doesn't really get heard so I doubt that the distortion is 'heard' on the Hifiman either. It might warm the sound up a bit in fact.... I do wonder whether Senn rolled the bass away so measurements wouldn't pick out the higher distortion in the first place. Still no preview reviews of the Hifiman.

Only 699 more to go...and then the 3 month wait begins before they're in your hands.
Impressions seem reasonably favourable so far. Aside from the highs (will they be too bright perhaps?) it's shaping up to be a very decent headphone for the money I think.

Yes, it looks like everyone on HF is jumping at the REO buds rather than the Hifiman. From the !little out there, it does seem the top dominates. I'm surprised that Z man likes them. Whether that's because he was sent a freebie or not might have influenced what he said though.
I'm not expecting it to sound like a planar though, but perhaps many people would have preferred that instead of a dynamic, I think the original he-300 might have put people off just like Aakshey presumed that it was a copy of the original rather than slightly redesigned.
It might be a good replacement for my Senn hd558 though.

I can see the appeal in the RE-0. If it wasn't for the import fees etc. I wouldn't mind a decent sounding £20ish IEM for times when I wouldn't want to risk my better ones.
The difficulty when you read or hear impressions on the HE-350's elevated top end is that they don't often draw many comparisons. I mean if they said it was similar to the K712 in terms of quantity and overall linearity that would be fine but if it screams like a banshee I'd be less keen.
The HD598 seems to be seen as one of the biggest competitors so if it bests that then it's a decent buy. Comfort should be decent if my experience with the HE-560 is anything to go by.
I suspect with the signature of this it'll make for quite a good gaming headphone for those that want to be able to clearly hear audio cues and opponents positioning in FPS games etc.
I'd personally have liked a planar but I think as long as someone goes in with realistic expectations of what they're not going to be too disappointed. Seems like $100 buys you quite a capable headphone but obviously one with some concessions to hit that price point (build quality, materials and pads primarily).

Two days to go and the drop finishes on these. 4880 have been sold.
Now it's just a wait until August. They haven't been made yet by Hifiman. They're going to be busy now.
$99 plus fees so not massively expensive.
Last chance on this drop now..

If I could get the Fostex T50RP MKIII under $99 shipped, I might grab it. But then, may not. Because I don't like pesky treble.

The t50 isn't treble laden with the pads I have. In fact, it has a very deep, hard hitting bass. One of my favourites.

It's funny with these drops. Demand goes bananas on the first day or two and you think they'll be done within a matter of days. But then the deluge of commits turns into a trickle.... Within touching distance now so looks like the full allocation will be sold. There's always a few folk who start to worry about missing the bus when either the deadline looms or availability starts to get limited. 5000 pairs of headphones sounds an awful lot to make in 2 months or so! Hope they don't bring in the work experience kids to do them

Gotta wonder if these will also be like the (not so)limited edition 7xx. It would be nice if they bring it back for a second drop after some impressions come in

I wouldn't be surprised. They're doing the same thing with the TH-X00 now too and it seems to be an arrangement that works well for both MD and the manufacturers.

I thought I was going daft the other day as I was sure the drop had 2 days to run but then when I looked again later it was suddenly went up to 9 days. But nope I wasn't just me, others noticed it too. Also appears the 5000 units limit has been relaxed. Guess they have decided to make hay whilst the sun shines. Believe the shipping date has come forward slightly too so guess HFM are confident in their ability to cope with demand

Yes, it was down to two days and close to the 5000 mark. The total collected for 5000 units is 500,000 sell at $100 dollars apiece. I hope they don't get greedy if they do a second and put the price up because it still seems fairly cheap to me.

They haven't increased the prices with other LEs.
