Isolation is very good and yes, the older version was better. Makes you wonder what on earth was Denon thinking when they updated everything?
The bass is huge though and after a while, you start to crave less! It's not the same quality bass as the D600 which is more controlled and less flabby.
Are you after a bassy headphone for portable use?
AKG k450? Another big bass headphone but more portable.

i am not a bass head , but do like the warmer/fuller sound. just trying to do things on a tighter budget than usual as i do have other things i want to get done in the coming months.
ie, getting my Ember modded/super charged to take the tubes pictured by Jeremy. and purchasing the new psu , when its finished. i would imagine (have not looked yet) that used 1001's would be plentiful and much cheaper than the 600,s.

I have an opportunity to get the Denon AH-A100, which some say are the same as the AH-D1100.
Does the bass on this headphone mellow out over time or not? I like warm signatures with a little sparkle in my treble, but I'm not a basshead.
