Watch this space as I am making a comparison of all possible pads that fit on these headphones. Hope to finish writing the article in a few days. Looking forward to it Frans.

Stick 'em in an envelope and ship them over if you want. I'll measure them and return them. They don't weigh much and fit though the letterbox so shipping is cheap.

You've got measurements. The measurements for these pads are added in HERE (http://diyaudioheaven.wordpress.com/schematics/headphone/) Scroll down to 'Superlux HD681 replacement pad measurements' and click on that link ! below a filter modified HD681 (with bass reduction section in it) red = stock pads, blue = Aliexpress (Ryan's store) pads. Above the difference between the fleabay pads (red) and Ryan's store pads (green) The differences are so small they can easily come from a slightly different seal or position on the testrig.

I'm struggling with your test results cause on my 681-B I don't have the idea the bass is better with the stock pads. The stock pads are too firm so they don't close off as well as the velours do. So the velours acually gave me an idea of firmer bass. It's a good thing I don't mind what test results say, if I like what my ears hear

If you only used a filter for the highs it makes sense they would not sound that bad. Blue = stock HD681 (with stock pads) red = stock HD681 with Chinese pads. The highs would be considerably flatter and the B version has slightly less bass. It will be fairly 'flat' with a dip of just 5dB in the midrange. You would be getting a sort of V shaped headphone which is preferred by many over a warmish signature. A bit like a flat headphone with the bass and treble turned up. If you like to do yourself a favour buy yourself an HD681-EVO (they do not cost that much) Put their velour pads on the HD681B and slap the Chinese pads on the EVO. You would be getting this from the EVO: As you can see a slight dip from 200Hz to 800Hz as well which is pleasant to the ears.

Hi, I am thinking about MKIII filter to my HD681. BUT - I am wondering if I customize EQ in my FiiO E07K will the result similar to the filter? The E07K has +10/-10dB bass and trebles (in 2dB step). The MKIII filter cuts -5dB bass and -10dB trebles, so in FiiO it will be -10 treble and -4 bass. Or the filter is better option? I am 100% sure I will do a filter to 662F, because of using them in DAP, but in 681? So the E07K EQ = filter or not? Sorry for stupid question, but I am not a modder and can't just do the filter mod and can't reverse it if I don't like the filter's sound. I have to send it to a modder, pay for deliveries, pay for mod and pay for electronic elements. And If I don't like it, I have to pay again for everything. Kind of risky. I would like to know how the 681 will +/- sound with the MKIII filter.

Welcome zares. The HD681 filter can be connected externally via a patch lead. I have a mk 2 and a mk 3 filter but they are in the form of a patch lead and not inside the headphone, since I don't wear them moving around. Very simple, just plug in which flavour you fancy and away you go!!
Mk 2 leaves a healthy bass hump. Mk 3 takes the hump down.

The filter only addresses what should be addressed, a preset filter does not provide the needed correction and also takes away frequencies the filter does not.
However, if you like the sound of the E07 with EQ there is nothing wrong with using that though it is very different from what the filter does.

I am listening to the music with EQ now. It's WAY better, the sound is easier to listen, trebles are smoother, but there are still noticeable sibilances. So I've decided to ask modder to do a filter in the box (thx, Rabbit, for a tip). After I get the filter I will compare both - with EQ, without filter and without EQ, with filter. But I think that the filter will be waaay better I have also ordered the AKG K240 velour pads. I hope this combination will make this headphones rock! And back to 662F. You e-mailed me, Frans, "without bass reduction = schematic bottom page 9" - you mean MKI and/or MKII filter? bottom page 9 is the "Superlux HD681-EVO". Is it MKI/II and will be good to 662F? Or which schematic should I use to 662F? Give me a direct link, please Sorry for my english, cheers from Poland!
