Chris really kindly carved a logo for my 'pub' and it's absolutely brilliant. He used my avatar and the wooden carving is spot on. In fact, it's so good that I'm concerned about putting outside in the weather. Chris, you have a lot of talent there. I'm really surprised just how well you made it. Many many thanks. Here it is ........

Glad you like it Ian It was just a little thank you that's all, from when you gave me the Beyer headphones many moons ago. If you are worried about it being outside then simply find somewhere inside to put it - like I said over the bullseye to improve your aim Only kidding.

It just seems too nice to put outside, Chris. It's an amazing carving. Lucy saw it and was absolutely fascinated by it. You're very talented to be able to do that.
The Beyers would have been nothing to me. I had loads of them rea to sell off to students doing 'music performing and recording classes.' Funny thing was that headphones seemed to go in phases. At one point, everyone was wanting Grados (!!!!!) and then the K550. Suddenly, one student saw a dt770 on a trip to the BBC and they became the next FOM, so I bought in a load ready to sell to them.
I still use a dt770 now myself when I want to isolate the tv without using active noise cancelling.
The darts is starting to improve now. I've gone into stance, throwing style and analysing what I'm doing and now playing around with different dart weights!! I get flashes of real accuracy followed by total nuttery. Just not consistent yet, but it is improving. I never realised just how hard it is!!

I would find somewhere inside to put it Ian, it will keep far better than outside in all the bad weather, although it has had about 6 coats of teak oil which should protect it? Just in the process of filtering the Dt770's with my portable Kameleon - finished the filter but the volume is too low, so a little bit more work on that. I still use my DT770's most weeks alongside the Philips cityscape. I have never had a problem throwing darts and I have always been good at it even with my left hand - my only problem is the maths side of darts I cannot deduct my score too know what to aim for next, I have always been rubbish at maths

Well.... a breakthrough perhaps on the darts. The darts that I have been using weighed 18gms and a heavier set at 23gms. Today a new set arrived at 26gms. Went out to the board nd all three landed in virtually the same place. More consistent and don't need to throw as hard. So it looks as though the 26gms are better for me. Going to try 28gms as well, just in case ...... The 'Mad Hatter' might not be so safe on the bulls eye now ......

Well, my 28's are on the way tomorrow, Simon. The 26's are more precise for me without a doubt. I went back to the old 18 gm and I was throwing them all over the place. 23 was a bit better and the 26's were more consistent. I've also got some flight holders on the way, they make sure that the flights are at right angles to each other!! The size of the flights are also connected to how you throw. Generally, lighter darts might be better with smaller flights so that they go quicker whereas heavier darts can be thrown more slowly, but if they hit with the flight facing down consistently, then you need bigger flights to lift the back. I found that I can throw slower with the heavier ones and they strike better. That's not even taking into consideration, the barrel shape. I'm using a long barrel since then there is less 'grip' effect on the throw. Been really looking into it and it's quite complex really. Even down to the style of your throw and stance!!! Slowly becoming more accurate now though. These are the darts that I'm currently trying ...... www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00H1Q5SBW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They look nice. I nearly passed out when I saw the EBay price. I'd want 3 bullseyes with that kind of price!!!!
I'm looking forward to trying the 28gm tomorrow. I guess you went 26gm?

I also favour a heavy dart Ian, light ones seem all wishy washy and go anywhere but where you want them to I also find playing darts is a bit like steering a car - you have got to keep your eye on where you want the car to end up and not worry how it gets there. So if you want to hit the bulls eye - don't take your eye off it when you throw the dart and don't worry how the dart gets there.

Next thing you need to do for your pub Ian, is to make one of these tables using an old beer barrel Note the snake made out of old bottle tops and wine corks - dead easy to make

Blimey, you've really gone bar ..... big time Chris!!
I've had the new 28's for a day now Simon. Also have 26 in the same style. The 28's seem to go more where I want them to go I think. I am getting more consistency. Been working on the arm swing and release and TBH, I've found the more relaxed I am, the better. I'm literally swinging from the elbow and letting the dart go, with no variation and finding that Im getting 3 hits pretty close to each other now.
So it's working on the release time in order to get the height more accurate. Getting there though. I've been alternating between 26 and 28 and not sure yet which is best. I think 28 suits me better. The first 28 I threw hit bullseye!!
I've also found the grip to be crucial. Tried two finger hold and even one. Believe it or not, one has less influence on the dart and they go pretty straight for me as long as I concentrate. I'm also finding the centre of gravity for the place to grip. That seems to affect them too
So, it is improving a lot for me now. I just go down for a short practice every couple of hours or so since I do lose concentration. Also, the minute one flies off for whatever reason, it affects many throws afterwards!!!
I think 28 might be the heaviest I should use. Tempted to try 30, but I think they'd be too much. 26 or 28 seems good for me.
I'm going to fit flight shapers on the back, so that the flights stay at right angles. Those flights have an effect as well.
All very scientific.......

Darts. Go for treble 19's with light darts (19-23g) to get your consistency in then move up in weight & up the board. Heavier darts are more accurate but the downside is that each of your three throws will follow the last and so increase the chance of bounce-out.Once you get the consistency come back down in weight. Less weight allows easier tuning of the landing angle.
Yes, I know what you're thinking but trust me, I used to make money at darts.
