the Ember is one of the top best purchase in all my life.....a question? How is it possible to write a review of an amplifier so versatile that a change of tube modify entirely the sound ? it is not fair for the other amp i think ....No review of the Ember can describe the quality accurately and the potential of this amp....i will make this impossible review simply : no other amp at this range of price offer so much... buy the 6ns7 tube family, save money, and forget tube rolling .....

Could not have said it better. This amp really responds to the tube you use. I had someone listen to it with a laid back tube, they thought it wasn't quite as detailed as they like. Changed tubes when I got home. Too harsh, too detailed. Changed again. Sounded like a $2500 amp I had listened to earlier in the day smooth but great detail. Maybe Ember should have been called the Kameleon.

Maybe Ember should have been called the Kameleon. i read some reviews of the Ember...Comparison are futile...The Essence of this marvel is Total Versatility for an adequate adaptation to the others pieces of a particular system...No other amp for less than 300 hundred dollars is like that....No other amp for more than 300 hundred dollars is like that...I thank each day the 2 men who created it... I am not rich...now i am no more jealous about the one thousand dollars amp on the market...And my basic stax system is less interesting than the he 400 with the Ember+ 6ns7..... best regards to you

a close-up from the glass bottom of a tube ? The glass border between the pins and the actual vacuum part of the tube.

No camera, just my eyes!

I picked up an electro-harmonix 6SN7 from here.. www.ebay.com/itm/121571711603?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT. Figured for 8 bucks what did I have to lose. I have purchased tubes from this seller, and always had good results. Listening to this tube on the Ember, the mids and treble are very prominent, the bass just a little light, but accurate. Listening to Chris Isaak, male voice is quite nice, also tried Nessun Dorma by Nathan Pacheco and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir www.youtube.com/watch?v=fi-kAhzqwSoand it was quite a treat with female vocals Katherine Jenkins here.... makes me think I should have not turned her down when she wanted to go out ( okay so I made have over stated that).

Are there any photos of a pre-built Ember with the Aluminium top-plates to see?

None yet as I only had the Polaris and Solstice protos built. Hopefully in a week or two I will have photos and they will be shipping at the same time!
