I've never really done surround sound. I don't really go for the blockbuster movies that really take advantage of them. Besides, I don't really have the space for them anyway. The Dali's are great value though. When mounted on stands and given enough room to breathe they really do punch above their weight, imo.

DIY .... 2x 40cm subwoofers actively filtered and compensated (flat from 10Hz) Speaker itself 2x Dynaudio 17W75 (the early ones) Vifa M110 midrange (obsolete) HiVi RTL-1 isodynamic ring tweeter home made X'over part active and passive. Built it about 25 years ago but about 5 years ago I changed the tweeter from Technics 10TH400B ribbon to HiVi RTL-1 Before the kids and cats were there I had electrostatic (DIY) speakers. They did not have tensioned membranes and sounded extremely good. It X'sed over actively at 300Hz to the 17W75's and that X'ed over to the active sub (10Hz to 80Hz)

Ha Very nice sir! One day - need to hear those! I believe the HiVi RT1 is the same ribbon used in my 3030a's. Very curious about your ring ribbon tweeter (RTL1) Gordon: Agreed - outstanding value! My family and I are big movie buffs so we do have a reasonable HT setup and the zensors do HT amazingly well as they do music. Very versatile. I have the 1's on 36" stands as the couches are tall. The rest is pretty straight forward with a Harman avr2700 which is... OK (I would not buy again) However, my office setup is still my favorite system in the house. I love a good monitor setup and I never thought I would find it with the behringers until I auditioned them. They are outstanding. I tell ya, if you have a chance to listen to some 3030a's properly setup.... very nicely done for about $400 US a pair or even less. Fed of course from an Ember So us audio geeks like cameras, watches and several of us somehow have Dali's. Nice!

That's a nice watch, definitely. Too rich for me though. For me a watch has to do one thing. Tell me the time, in as clear a fashion as possible.

Mine is one of these: it was given as a present by my father on my 18th birthday. I have only taken it out of my wrist on two occasions (oiling & cleaning at official Rolex dealer) in almost 30 years and not a scratch on it. It is not as accurate as quartz watch but good enough for me.

I have Dali Lektor-1 (as rear speakers). Cheap and nice. At one point in this insanity I had a complete set of of Infinity Prelude MTS surround speakers. 2 full range fronts with subwoofers as the the speaker stands. A center speaker. Two side tower speakers, the MTS towers without the subwoofers and and pair of Infinity Intermezzo 2.6 as the back speakers. Dark Side of the Moon was awesome. As was all well recorded music. Then all the midrange drivers started to fail I contacted Infinity (Harmon Kardon) and was told that they had not had any complaints about the midrange drivers, even though it was a common complaint on many forums. A bloke in the UK had the same problem. infinity in UK admitted there was a problem and they replaced all his drivers at no cost. Then my 2.6 powered speakers amps failed. Nothing from Infinity USA when I complained about the total failure of every speaker I had bought from them. I would not recommend anything made by Harmon-Kardon. I invite them to reply to this post. Please explain your complete lack of customer service for a multi-thousand dollar system failure in the USA, but a great response to your UK customers.

Hello Group. First time poster so please excuse any mistakes. I would like to start out by saying how much I love my Project Ember Amp. This has been a great project to build and modify as well rolling tubes (or valves as some may choose . I have been through the list with my tube rolling and I have to be honest I can't say there is anything I hate. If push came to shove I could listen to all of them. Now that being said I definitely liked some more than others. Tops on my list would be the Amperex PQ 6922, 6N30P-DR, and a couple Bugle Boy varieties. But then came out the 6SN7 adapter which opened up a whole other world. These quickly jumped to the top of the list, very open, good clarity with punchy low end. I thought I could finally stop rolling but then came along another tube I came across, the 7193 which is basically half of a 6SN7. With an adapter I found on ebay I figured I would give it a try. Wholly crap this was audio heaven, wider sound stage velvety mids and highs, and a tight low end. Now I will say most of my listening has been done lately using the Ember as a Pre Amp running an amp and speakers with a sub woofer attached so there may be a certain synergy that others may not get, but I strongly suggest trying it out if you can. There is also a certain cool factor due to the fact that the plate and grid uses external caps. Sorry to run on I will try and attach some pics of the Pre and Post FrankenEmber as I call it that show some other additions such as the standoffs and knob that I turned from brass.
