Hi, I have an existing amplifier but it does not have a headphone out. I would like to connect my headphones to it as its a tube amplifier. This article is very useful to determine whether I can connect my headphones to it. diyaudioheaven.wordpress.com/tutorials/power-amp-adapter/But it doesnt say how to connect from amplifier without headphone out/socket to headphone Would someone be able to advise how to connect from amplifier to headphones? 1) Build a custom cable with banana plug (amplifier) to 3.5mm jack (headphone)? Is this possible? 2) Connect via the tapeout of amplifier (RCA) to 3.5mm. I tried but no sound comes out of headphones but when tried with a portable wireless speaker there is sound albeit soft. 3) Some sort of analog to analog or analog to digital device (if it exists)? Thanks!

1: The linked page already shows how to connect a headphone to the amplifier. At least it shows where the wires should make contact. 3.5mm TRS and 6.3mm TRS are the same, they only differ in size. As there are many different types of headphone sockets (3.5mm and 6.3mm) I cannot draw a 'universal' drawing of how to connect to which socket. Also not all amplifiers have similar looking speaker outs. Screw connectors, plug-in, banana, DIN, Speak-on. They all have a + and -
When you post a picture of the stuff you want to work with I can tell you more.
2: Tapeout can have a high output resistance so is generally only suited for line level signals with a high input impedance (well above 1k Ohm) In general it should only be used to connect a tape recorder, in some cases you can use it as a 'switched' output to drive other amplifiers. In most cases it is a simple (switched) connection but on older equipment there usually are resistors in the path. Most certainly when using DIN connectors.
3: What do you mean by this ? Analog to Analog exists .. it is called an amplifier. Analog to digital is present in most PC's or external (USB) soundcards. What do you want to use this for ?

Most likely the amp (Triode 25) will be able to provide around 15V when connected directly. This will be around 8W into 26 Ohm
Given the efficiency of the PM3 I would use a voltage divider of at least 1:10
So R1 33 Ohm and R2 = 3.9 Ohm in the schematic. This you will either have to construct yourself or find someone that can and will.

Oh ok great. I will need to find someone to help me. Let me go check out the electronic shops and ask around.
But thank you for the help!
