Yes, they're appearing now. Beautiful too. What a lovely place. It must be my age, but I have become way more reclusive and definitely prefer being cut off from towns and people. Maybe because both in performing and teaching, you're basically putting on an act for everyone else to enjoy or hate...... Not because you feel the way that you portray. Now, I do as I like and just love it, but would really enjoy living in a place like that. I know what you mean. My wife and I have spent most of our lives entertaining people in various ways. We're finding ourselves to be more reclusive with age. We spent the first 20 years of our married lives living in town. Now I'm happy surrounding myself with trees and critters instead of people.

Funny how some of you wish for a longer summer, but I wish for a shorter one. Been hot here for over a week. Here Spring seems to last three weeks, then the heat starts in. Your picnic looks like the ones when I was a kid. We'd head up into the Sierra Nevada's and find a nice park for a day picinic. Lovely, and got us out of the heat for a few hours. If we got lucky the ants and mosquitoes would leave us alone. Then some brook trout fishing. Head home and finish the day with a fresh fish dinner. Some of my favorite childhood memories. Even better when we stayed at my Grandfather's house at Lake Tahoe for a couple of weeks! Thanks for posting the pictures. Brought back good memories.

Also I was a technical instructor at work teaching drawing techniques, CAD and cartography. Have given presentations at sales conferences as well as various seminars and trade exhibitions. Have even addressed a few hundred members at union rallies. And now I'm fully retired I can't be doing with the public stuff. Even normal social occasions are a struggle. "You must come to ours for dinner next week". My heart sinks.

My dream is retire to the coast of California. Someplace where I would need binoculars to see my neighbors house, and just barely at that.

My dream is retire to the coast of California. Someplace where I would need binoculars to see my neighbors house, and just barely at that. Way back when I lived in the Bay area, my grandparents had a cabin in Grass Valley. We loved going there. We moved out of California in '71 and haven't been back since. I quite imagine I wouldn't recognize anything if I were to visit.

Some things have changed. Mostly more houses and more people. Some places aren't that different. But less Mom and Pop places and a lot more chains. Especially restaurants. They are everywhere. Northern California seems to have been effected somewhat less. Bay Area traffic is usually a nightmare now. Still a beautiful city by The Bay though. And Bodega Bay has hardly changed at all. Except for some new houses and a golf course. Thank goodness.
