Those poor people. I spent a lot of yesterday watching live feeds from the Keys, including nutcase who decided to take their location just to get people watching them.
One young guy was in Matrathon which is a place I know well. His house looked straight at the sea which is close because it's very narrow there and even before the hurricane hit fully, waves were smashing into the window panes. Really frightening.
Of course loads of people were posting 'Why didn't you leave?' but I can understand why people stayed. First, they had nowhere to stay since hotels are full. They might not be able to get back afterwards due to the one road being blocked. The house could well be raided. Not to mention that many of those houses have been built knowing that hurricanes will hit anyway.
So he sat it out and streamed what was going on outside. Eventually, he just disappeared so I hope he's ok. I noticed that nothing is coming out from the Keys this morning and the UK news hasn't mentioned the Keys.
Trouble is that the land is so low that I guess it went underwater.
Now Orlando has a category 1 going, the news are focusing there, but I do feel for the people down in the Keys because they are totally cut off.

Unfortunately this may not be the last one of the season. Going to be a rough time for my fellow Americans in the Southern States.

Ridiculous wind speeds aren't they? Like standing on top of a racing car.
That guy's mental!! Taking measurements of wind speed I guess?

Yes. Taking wind speeds Ian. Gusts were hitting 230 Km/hr at one point. He says he knows what he's doing. Seems to me there has to be an easier way. I understand he also chases tornadoes. It's what he loves to do. This and Harvey are going to cost billions to rebuild and repair all the damage. And Irma isn't done yet.
