i wasnt referring to the RJ plug and sockets, i meant the connections within the outlet box itself, IDC i think they are called. i have lost count of the times i have been watching over the shoulder of bt engineers in the street exchange boxes trying to find a signal tone. as they move their tone detector over cables, some just fall out. i suppose these connectors are used for speed of physically connecting a wire over say a spring or screw terminal.
i would like to find an outlet box with screw terminals and ditch the bt unit. i know they exist but cant find them for sale
