I read this in one of the many reports on CES - Sennheiser supposedly shows a closed version of the HD800, price over $2000.
Anyone there who's seen and even better, heard it?

Now we're talking. Open headphones are not suitable in my house...

Tyl made a short clip at CES about the 820. Will be out early summer, $2400. Ridiculous.

Heard from a friend that is there. The place is loud enough to cause ear ringing at times. No way to evaluate anything but the price. Which is nuts. Gorilla glass on the outside of the cup, concave, into the cup. So looks good. Nobody except Sennheiser knows how it sounds, and apparently they aren’t finished with the final tuning.

Considering that the form factor is identical to HD800, which had minimal clamp, not sure if the HD820 can isolate as well as a typical closed-back. The price is ridiculous to say the least.

The explanation they gave about the construction, the reason for the concave glass, was interesting though. It seemed as though they were suggesting this closed headphone would sound like an open one.

I rather get a Stax system at that kind of price! But then again, different strokes for different folks eh

I'd rather not spend that kind of money on any headphone. Like top of the line Iphones, you pay for the brand and the hype, not for quality or development.
