FWIW my beta version of foobar, 1.3 IIRC, went t*ts up today and nearly blew my speakers I suspect. Playing nicely and I was in the other room making a 'brew' when I got the maximum volume white noise. I dashed in, switched the amps of and tied to start again but each speaker gave an ear splitting crack and the amps cut out - same thing happened the next time I tried it so I abandoned that. It played internet radio beautifully for around 30 mins so I decided foobar was the problem and uninstalled and reinstalled the released version (non-beta) and it then behaved itself impeccably but I'd lost all my playlists and 'eye candy' layout so now back to a basic layout - and no 'Amanero combo' ouput option - but at least the music is playing. When I shut foobar down last night it was playing perfectly but on switch on this morning something had got corrupted. Just posting this for interest - anyone else had anything similar? Dave.

gonna read over your two dummy docs Javier, thanks . I know there are a LOT of components that can be added to foobar, and I used to have it set up a few years back (foobar2000) but have since built a new rig and haven't done anything to foobar yet. hopefully reading through your write-ups I can get it sorted to be a audiophile as it can be. thanks. Hi there Long time no see..

There is a new 0.7.1 version of the Foobar SACD/DSD plugin and 0.7.1.2 version foo_dsd_asio proxy that introudce DSD to DSD up/downsampling from any to any including all formats ranging from DSD64 up to DSD512 though, unlike HQPlayer which stays 100% in SDM domain, it involves an intermediate decimation (aka PCM conversion) step. Both components can be downloaded from Maxim's Sourceforge page: Download foo_input_sacd-0.7.1.zip (611.3 kB) (the includes both the SACD plugin and the proxy executable)

1.3.3 - Converter: added AAC (iTunes), AAC (FDK) and AAC (Winamp/FhG) modes. - Winamp/FhG mode added in beta 2. - Updated FFmpeg to 2.3 [1.3.3 final]. - ReplayGain scanner: added an override for treating extreme peaks as errors. - Default User Interface: improved handling of high DPI displays, added high-resolution button images. - Corrected MP3 seeking performance regression from 1.3, file caching related. - “Save Playlist” commands now remember the last used format [1.3.3 final]. - Added an option not to transfer tags when converting [1.3.3 final].
1.3.4 - Fixed problems with accessing very long file names on network shares. - Fixed incorrect display of converter tag transfer option state in the converter setup dialog. - Improved compatibility with malformed ID3v2 tags. - Added option to prevent hard disk sleep while playing [Advanced Preferences]. - Fixed performance issues with Matroska file reading (1.3 regression). - Fixed Converter problems with ripping CD to single file with chapters (1.3 regression). - Added an option to suppress startup dialog about bad last shutdown. - RAR unpacker updates: Now using unrar.dll which can be updated easily in the future. Disregard that, unrar.dll is unusable due to bugs and limitations. Now using RAR source directly with own patches, just like previous foobar2000 versions did [beta 4]. - Added support for RAR5 format. - Updated FFmpeg to 2.4.1 [beta 4]. - Updated FLAC code to the latest git (as of 2014-10-07), with bug fixes and speedups [beta 5]. - Fixed a very old and very bad Matroska tag writing bug [1.3.4 final].
1.3.5 - Fixed deadlock when encountering an incomplete multi-part RAR file. - Internal changes for the upcoming ABX component update. - Added “Show now playing in playlist” menu command (hidden by default, useful mostly for binding shortcuts) - Fixed inconsistent capitalization of some menu items.

I the foobar 2000 for dummies part 2 there is mention of samples of different fir filters at different cutoffs (up to 60 khz) included in the foobar folder. I could not find any in 1.3.4. Where are they? Is there any other samples anywhere?

Hi and welcome to the forum theob.
If you mean the different installable FIR filter (hope I got it right) then they are not not in any of the Foobar folders, they come inside the SCD plugin zip. WHen you extract the contents to a new folder you should see a sub-foldr named "filters" and there is where you'll find them. Just "right click" and select "extract to", create a new folder and then, once the contents have been extracted, open it.

Had a little hardware issue which is now solved but I cannot get kernel streaming re-set up in Foobar. It only works with thee foo_dsd_asio driver. The kernel streaming component is in the components list but when I click on it and and then click ok nothing happens. It still does not show under output/devices as a ks driver. What am I doing wrong?

Unless you are using Windows XP I wouldn't use KS but rather WASAPI or, even better, ASIO which bypasses all MS stuff.
To the point, I don't quite understand what you are trying to say when you say you "click on it". If it is installed correctly (ie. as per the guide) it should show in the drop down list of output devices. I just tested it on my PC and I get "KS: xxxxxxxxxx" perfectly OK. Besides foo_DSD_asio, do you get any other ASIO outout devices? may I ask which DAC are you using?

My OS is Windows xp, dac is Benchmark 2 hgc. I do get 3 other device drivers (asio benchmark dac2 asio, foo_dsd_asio, asio jRiver media center, and ds primary sound driver. But I do not see any KS device drivers in the list even tough the ks component is shown in my list of components.

Another point of interest when I try to delete the KS dll from my list of components in the Foobar folder. it wont let me. I was going to try to reload it and then install again but I cant seem to do that.
