The 2nd iteration of the Superlux HD672 arrived. It is a semi-open over-ear headphone that can be driven directly from phones etc. Acc. to Superlux this is the production model but somehow I doubt it as there are no markings on it and the driver seems to have had a final change in rear damping. The silicone pads are improved, the driver has improved, the sound has substantially improved, clamping force is improved. Looks are the same. The sound quality is not bad at all and shows promise. Measurements aren't so hot but the ears don't seem to care/mind. Below the frequency response of the stock HD672 Most of the irregularities are caused by the pads (and some parts are driver related) By slapping on other pads and adding some toilet paper a better measuring and a bit nicer sounding headphone emerges. That looks a bit better already. Far more information on the website and also available as downloadable PDF.

After mod ur measurements looks quite good. I like That would be awesome if they could use that on final version and do ur mods because it does not make sense not to use on production model. Suck an easy step.

I am quite sure they will stay with these pads. It looks like they invested in these pads and stick with it.
They are easy to clean.
For us mortals we just have to buy another set of pads.

I love looking at your work, solderdude. Very nice graphs. The effects of breakup seem to vanish after your mods. Did you take a moment to compare this pair to your other modded or stock superluxes?

I also have the HD671 here. Also modified. Still have to do a write up on it.
The driver itself sounds pretty good. The dip at 4kHz is still there (which may be break-up or a resonance), the wilder part of the upper frequency range seems to be caused by the pads.
Still have to do some comparisons.
