We try to get away at least once a Year Simon. It also gives me something different to film.
I love Menorca. The people are lovely and have much more of an ‘island’ mentality. I also have some friends there from Barcelona. They work in the restaurants for the Summer season and then go home in November.
We had a fantastic time and the month just shot by.
Came home, the car started perfectly and then after driving away, warning lights came on and after taking it to be seen, we were going to have a £1500 bill to fix it, so I thought sod it and bought a new car which I’m picking up on Thursday. So that’s a lot of money flown out but the new car is nice. A Golf. Looking forward to that!!

Got home. Car started perfectly first time. Warning lights came on.
So it went in for a diagnostic and they told us £1500 repair. Since we’d be changing it next year, I thought sod it and bought a new car.
So yesterday, I picked up a new Golf and I’m now £20000 lighter as well!!!!

I’m at that point Ian. 21 year old car. Gradually siphoning money from my bank account. Going car shopping next weekend. Wish me luck.
Congratulations on the new car.

Thanks Ron. And good luck with your shopping. It’s a minefield with cars.
Originally, I was just going to buy another Polo but the Golf was available as a second register. It turns out that garages buy them in order to bump up their sales in order to keep their link with whatever make they are selling. Apparently, they risk losing their franchise if so many aren’t sold, so they buy them and register them in the garage’s name and then sell them on cheaper to a second owner, although they’ve done no mileage.
Mine had done 8 miles which is how far the other garage was where it was stored. So in effect, it’s new. I’m the second owner.
The car is beautiful and a lot faster than a Polo. It has cruise control and sensors that slow it down if another car is too close ahead. It also registers if anything is close on the sides or back. Really weird with the car telling me what’s around me.
I have a little lane type road down the side of my house with a fence on either side down to my garage. The sensors tell me where the fences are all the way down so I can be in the dead centre of the road just by looking at its display screen!! It also has a sat nav which monitors traffic live. Very posh.
I love its speed because I can pull away from anything dodgy pretty quickly.
I’m loving the car but it is a lot of money ........

My current car has a steering wheel, a gas and brake pedal and four tires. . A bell dings if I leave the lights on, or the keys in the ignition switch. It was in the repair shop and I had to rent a 2017 car for a few days. It took me tens minutes to figure everything out before I backed out of the driveway. It felt like I was learning how to fly a 737! .
