Teufel Real was surprising and disappointing.
Surprising for comfort and SQ (well extended far over 20kHz) and neutral but had rather large differnces between L and R (could not really hear that but measured with differences of over 5dB between 200Hz and 5kHz) !

Is it a monitoring headphone Frans? I've been told that they have a strong, edgy top with not too much deep. Good mids and clear treble - good as a monitoring headphone - much how I feel about the V6.

It's anything but a V6. www.teufelaudio.co.uk/headphones/headphones-aureol-real-p12277.htmlIt sounds very neutral and not bright at all. Good bass as well. it measures a bit strange between 200Hz and 5kHz between L and R channel. It is not a measuring error but not very audible either. Very well extended in the highs though a bit weird dips and peaks.

Funny, since I'd heard it was similar to V6. Just shows you how wrong some descriptions can be. I nearly bought it until I saw that you SAVE £14.99 not they COST £14.99!! The difference between sides isn't so good at that price level. You don't think you have a rogue one do you Frans?

I have no idea and asked the manufacturer what they think about it. The answer might take a few days. This one is going to be returned. What I really like about Teufel is. A: They sell directly, not through dealers B: You have an 80 day trial period, delivery was free and they will also collect it for free IF you do not like it.
I have better headphones but was curious and with the 80day return policy it was a no brainer to order one.
IF it didn't have the L-R difference issues I would have kept it as it sounded very nice and neutral-ish and is easy to drive.
They are fixed price (E 99.-) which is a bit on the high side IMO given what you can get form a modified EVO for way less money. I have heard MANY headphones that did not sound as good though that were much more expensive.
Would have started modding it if the drivers 'matched'. I bought the black version b.t.w.

Teufel is sending me another one, they (the Dutch representative in this case) too is interested to see if the deviation between L and R was a rogue or not. So to be continued...
at £74.99 (included shipping) they are halfway between cheap and expensive but t.b.h. expected above 'cheap' level driver matching. Even Superluxes had better driver matching.
The sound is quite 'hifi' though, the V6 is not.

It looks very interesting Frans and I'm hoping that you have a rogue headphone. If they say it's within tolerances, then I wouldn't touch them myself.
Was thinking about it until I saw the graph.

hmm... it seems like Teufel is not the only one with L-R driver matching that is substantial (in the 5dB range) between 200Hz and 4kHz. The Philips L1 GE measured has a similar 'flaw' I suppose it is a roque as well. It is even 60% higher priced than the Real. The twice as expensive Fidelio M1 they measured has better driver matching as does their flagship Fidelio X1

Obviously, they don't expect their headphones to be tested, Frans. Whatever they can get away with eh? Great shame since it's not rocket science.
I'm looking forward to what they say and whether the replacement is the same.

The replacement Teufel Real is in the house. Did some measurements. The first one was to see if there was any burn-in in the first 2 hours. It seems the highs lowered by 1 dB or so and ever so slight change in the lows. This is how the new version measures: Good channel balance. BUT the highs are a bit too much and it sounds that way as well. Many could possibly live with that but I can't knowing something can be done. Lets take out the EVO felt I have left over: red= stock green= EVO felt Purple = half disc of EVO felt So not every one has an EVO felt disc lying around and may not be easy to come by. The white medical felt I used with the T50's (selfadhesive glue removed) also works great (even better than the EVO felt). blue= stock, green= with white medical felt. Will write something about it with piccies and post it in the usual place.

Is it possible to get that big dip out without hitting anywhere else, Frans?

I think the big dip isn't really there and is a measurement artefact. It seems to be something that strongly 'nulls'.
It doesn't have a lot of bass and isn't as fun as modified HD681 but it is a good headphone. At € 99.- I think it is on the high side of things but maybe I am spoilt.

That's a pity. It looked quite promising. I'm loving the mk 3 filter you sent for the Superbly Frans. It's spot on. Also gives me a choice of lifted bass or flat by changing the filter. The new one makes it sound more civilised to be sure.
Great for use with portable amps.

It is quite neutral with the felt and sounds very forward and with a good midrange. Deep lows are audible, it doesn't lack lows but it doesn't sound as bassy/warm as the Superluxes.
I returned it, very lightweight, non microphonic cable, velour pads and good extension/airy but a bit shhhh sounding in the highs unbecoming of headphones in this price range.
Aside from lacking some fun warmth it is actually a capable headphone, more in the direction of HD600 'flatness' BUT NOT in sound quality. It is easily driven from DAPs.
Waterfall plots show no resonances and it is a bit 'dry' sounding.
