Hello, new member here! I stumbled across this while looking for headphone mods for my Momentums and newly purchased EVO's. I'm in the states and am checking out different phones to use with my new Pono player, the hi - res unit from Neil Young and Ayers, which sounds incredible, btw. I looked over at the garage121 site and didn't see a mention of this amp. Is there a source for these over here? If so, people in the Pono community would be very interested, I'd bet. It looks like great work! Cheers!

Hi Peter and welcome to our forum!
AFAIK I'm the only one who has Kameleon boards ATM and I'm in the EU. Without batteries the amp is quite light (<200gr) so shipping a fully built amp to the US shouldn't be that expensive though, of course, cost will be higher than shipping within the US and there is the risk of customs+tax. On the other hand, if you are a DIYer you could get the bare PCBs and build it yourself. With the exception of a couple of parts which are rather tiny the rest is reasonably easy if you have some soldering experience.
Cheers

Jeremy (Garage 1217) doesn't have the Kameleon on his website, as it isn't a Garage 1217 product, but does supply them for US and Canadian residents. He doesn't have PCB's in stock (most likely) so I need to send him the PCB's first which takes some extra time.
Javier can supply them as well of course and has the parts in stock.

Jeremy is making them (e-mailed him about it) but he doesn't have any PCB's. Tomorrow I will send him a few.
Takes about 2 weeks to arrive and then he needs some time to make them.
You can contact him via his website or via this forum 'Jeremy Helms'

Emmm.... not exactly. It is swappable. Pull one out and push another in type.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using proboards

It's not designed for that Simon. It's supposed to be matched with whatever headphone you choose to use. Not a flat amp. It's designed to compensate only.
There's no bypass.

Indeed you cannot 'switch' between flat and filtered. the design itself does not allow this.
You MUST exchange the filter module for a flat one though.
It is primarily designed to drive difficult headphones (high impedance and/or orthos) that need a 'nudge' to become stellar and can be used 'on the go'.

ahh sorry guys. the penny has dropped now. i am unlikely to use my lcd2 with my dap anyway. i will be using it with whatever closed phones i eventually get, as i need the isolation.

If you want a pretty powerful amp on the go, the Mont Blanc e12 is extremely good Simon. It's flat as well so. An be strapped to the dap. The only two I use nowadays portable are the O2 and the Fiio e12. O2 isn't as convenient on the move since its a bit more cumbersome.
I was mowing the lawn in the Summer with the K550 attached to the e12 from my dap. I wrap the lead around me and tuck it through my belt!!
