I got this yesterday, from Amazon, 45p! following Ron and Ian's endorsement.
The sounstage on this CD is something else, great on speakers and to my surprise it carried through really well to the 'phones.
Absolute bargain.

I almost never can listen to Unplugged just once. Ron

I had a good experience at the one Miles Davis concert I went to. Yes, he had his affectations. But he was quite generous with the young musicians he had with him. I don't recall their names, but it was an impressive evening. And the acoustics at Massey Hall were fantastic.
I tend to drift anywhere from cool jazz and be-bop (Davis, Coltrane, Marsalis) to acid jazz and jam bands (Medeski, Martin & Wood; Galactic; Charlie Hunter). I have a decided bias against smooth jazz, though. It all sounds so homogenous to my ears.

Well came home from Islay tonight to find a small package in the mail.
Gees! Syd it cost me £4.75 new but no complaints 'coz in my book that's a bargain and as soon as I'd whacked it through EAC it was playing nicely confirming all that had been said about it here. So thanks lads for pointing us in the right direction again. Not be able to play it through the speaker system till tomorrow so looking forward to that. However it certainly sounds the best yet through the Fostex T50RPs I got for my recent birthday. No mods done yet on them I'll run them for a bit to get as good a handle on their sound as supplied before adding the wool and clay. Thereafter I'll have a go at your filter Frans. Regards, Alan

Here is a good introduction to Betty Carter Carmen McRae once remarked, "there's really only one jazz singer – only one: Betty Carter.(Wiki)
Then you might try Betty Carter at the '93 Hamburg Jazz Fest................... perhaps a bit more difficult for the non jazz listeners but pretty amazing vocalising. Piano and Bass are worth the listen on their own also.
