Crikey Javier. 14 years is getting on for antique in the UK!! I think most people are with cars here for around 5 or so years. 14 is really good. It better last me at least another couple of years, unfortunately I can't afford to replace it ATM. It has some issues but he engine is still quite strong and averages consistently better than 6L/100Km (47mpg) of diesel. The VW 130bhp 1.9L disel is probably one of the best diesel engines ever built (my car is a SW Passat).

Well, it is doing very well at that mileage and age. I've driven VW's for 25 years or more now.
I once had a very small Polo that went around the clock. Drove it to the Alps in Switzerland and back. Plus driving around up in the mountains which was a bit hairy. Then one year, it blew a gasket which took some fixing while we were on holiday in Cornwall. Came home and straight after that, someone hit me sideways at the back and it was written off.
In fact, when she hit the back corner by coming out of a side road, my car went sideways onto two wheels and headed straight for a lampost. Lucklily, it went straight down onto four wheels quickly and I was able to stop before hitting the post head on.
That one was the only one I kept for a long time. Around 12 years As well, I think.

Lovely car, shame you're having to sell but it's probably the right thing to do. Another member of the 14 year old car club checking in here! Only 140k miles though I'll need a new one soon, but almost certain I can't stretch to the merc unfortunately

Only 140k miles though And another Joe - well my wife's car is. its a Honda jazz with approx 140k miles and not a murmor from the engine, it never uses any oil from one oil change to another and another good thing is it has a timing chain and not a belt, so no chance of it suddenly breaking down with a snapped timing belt It has one unusual aspect in that it has 8 yes EIGHT spark plugs 4 in the front and 4 in the rear (which are an absolute B*****D to get in and out

I think you only bought it to match your Liverpool football shirt Simon They are supposed to be really good cars? and somebody told me many moons ago that if you want a good reliable car then buy Japanese then German in that order. Up to now that advice has been spot on for me.

ha ha its an "E350" sport, diesel. the wife and i have just spent the last hour watching the Eagles "hell freezes over" dvd in surround sound (harman kardon 7.1) , in the bloody car!! how sad is that? i never thought i would be able to own a car like this. it would normally be way beyond me.(thanks Mum) we are only here once so we thought "sod it", lets have it. Back in July, when I posted about my new TT, I didn't know it too could play DVDs... picture displays only when parked up of course but audio still plays when driving. Shame it only has stereo and not surround. Note the whole display, including the speedo/rev counter, is LCD and still properly visible when wearing polarised sunglasses. Looks V cool :-) The display that is, not me in sunglasses.
