hope they suit your needs. still got my D2000 , luckily in mint condition.
Mine were working great until my son started to "steal" them to listen to music. Somehow, they have degraded more in the last 6 months than in 6 years. I tried to find online the screw/wash/hinge that holds the cup to the headband, but no luck. I could find it for the th-x00 but it has a different size in the D2000. I might try getting one of those Chinese-made headbands and try savaging them.
Thanks Frans, I read your article even before posting. I might even build the Kameleon filter.
I was unsure why the second hand E-mu Teaks that I found online were always significantly more expensive than the th-x00, maybe it is a matter of availability. I have been rather disconnected from headphone forums/headphones news for a while, I have been super happy with my Kameleonized HD800 and I haven't felt the need to look any further.
But those D2000 were great fun to listen too!

Hi guys, Long time since I visited the forum. To my sadness my D2000 have eventually disintegrated (cups are no longer attached to the headband, the cable cloth is gone and the pads are totally worn). I really liked their fun sound signature and I would like to get something close. Thought the e-mu teaks or th-x00/tr-x00 could work. I would prefer going second hand if possible. Any thoughts on why to choose one or the other besides the cable? They seem rather similar to me.

Or buy a cheap amp with great specs that can drive all headphones with ease. Topping L30, JDS Labs Atom, Schiit Magni Heresy. All around $ 100.- Thanks Frans, that is probably a better/cheaper idea actually. Will check around what can I get.

Hi folks, I haven't been very active for a couple of years. I figured out that I was actually very happy with my rig (and I still am). During COVID-19 pandemics I started to play electric guitar, probably an effect of my 40 y/o life crisis Long story made short: I have a guitar amp that can be used with headphones. For some reason, my low impedance headphones (Denon D2000 and my Phillips SHL-5905, modified by Frans) just not match the amp output stage well, because I am getting a totally smoothed and overblown sound (no tube distorsion dynamics, too much upper bass / low mids). I just gave a go to my HD800 and they sound great though this guitar amp. Apparently the amp manufacturer recommends headphone impedance aroud ~70-80 Ohm. I would like to buy a headphone set to practice guitar with impedance in that ballpark (a bit higher is totally fine). I would prefer a set with a relatively flat response curve, or at least without too much coloration. I don't want to break the bank either I would apprecite it the most if you guys could recommend me a few models?

Frans are you planning to order more of those boards? 1 built prototype PCB will be up for sale when it is done. Just the PCB + components, fully tested so without an enclosure. Hi Frans, I would like to buy it if it is not already sold. Since we got the second kid, I have virtually zero time to build these things. I am still trying to figure out how to build the case for the Kameleon amp... Just let me know!

Although I keep reading new posts, I haven't been very active in the forum for almost 8 months now. I have to say that I have reached a system that really pleases me with every kind of music: Ember/Polaris + Kameleon inline filter + HD800. The combo is truly amazing, especially thanks to the in-line filter. It has left me wanting nothing else :-) Hence my lack of activity! My father came to Stockholm one month ago to visit us and he tested my rig at home. He was astonished, when we compared listening to the same song with his cellphone + chepo in-ear buds vs my rig (of course!) Anyway, I hope you guys are enjoying as much your systems as I am enjoying mine. Enjoy the summer! i am in agreement ref the the hd800 on Kameleon. the only thing i am not completely sure about is my "closed" headphones so may try something else there. tending to listen more to speakers of late, but still using Ember as pre. i would have thought you would have removed the mother in law from your avatar by now!! LOL!!! ;-) BTW, what speakers are you using with the Ember? I recently got a pair of Vanatoo T0, and I am very happy with them, although I have never tried them with the Ember as a pre: vanatoo.com/shop/speakers/transparent-zero/It was a real PITA to get them in Europe. In the end a friend took them with him overseas. The good thing is that these are very small and the sound is great in my opinion.

Hi Frans, if you ever decide to go for those inline boards, please count one for me! I still have to get started with the Amp, but it has been crazy at work

Wass soll ich jetzt denn noch sagen. ...I meant the response curve itself, the plot is absolutely fine!
