Oh, sorry! HP driver impedance is 32 ohm but measures something like 33-34 ohm with the cable and it has volume knob it increaases the headphone resistance. In that case any filter circuit will change its effectiveness with volume setting. Either it always has to be used on max. volume setting or you would have to drive it from a speaker amp (needs a special filter in that case) Yup. I would keep it max volume so the impedance could be close to 32 ohm atleast on PC.

Hi Frans! Do u have already a filter cable that suits for this headphone? Low shelf filter 1000 Hz, -8 dB, quality 6. Something like this:

solderdude I also have non memory foam cushions in the same size and it does not measure good. This seem to work best. It's been long time when I ordered and hope its still same quality material.

Still kicking even its today standards. I was forgotten this good sounding headphone. I did not found the original pads but I got some China real memory hybrid pads. Measures quite good and sounds too. Natural sounding, very open'ish, clean and a bit too light on the bass dynamics. Very light and super comfy headphone. Best for vocals and acoustic. Here is my measurements. I use 105mm soft memory cushions. Only mod I did I taped the front of the driver with kinesio tape.

This site had measured them: www.kopfhoerer.de/test/neumann-ndh-20/They also measured HD688 and its more flat sounding. It does not have that hot treble but the dips are much bigger than HD688 has, around 3-8 kHz.

Takstars Pro 82 are over-ear. I have my DT1350 for sale. diyaudioheaven.wordpress.com/headphones/for-sale/IMO one of the best on-ear headphones around. Certainly with the dedicated (filtered) headphone amp. A rather small over-ear with excellent SQ is the NAD VISO HP50. Also for sale (see link above). The latest Marshall Major 3 (wired) isn't expensive and probably a good listen. The major 2 is cheap at the moment but a bit dark sounding (needs EQ) The major 3 has more presence/clarity Also Marshall Mid BT is good sounding after modded. May be difficult to find nowadays? From ebay 78$/69€. If it's genuine its a good deal. It only issue is treble spike and it can be fixed easily. I did not play that long to mod it but I could have done it better because with trade off 3-5 kHz bumps few dB and 15-16 kHz loweres 10 dB. Bass had good extension, punchy and clear, middle nice but slightly elevated, slightly recressed upper frequencies and tiny ringing at 5 KHz. Some superluxs doing better but needs alot more precise modding, EQ and overear.

Sorry again I'm only one here but here is my latest modification. My intentions was to make pads more deeper then again somehow I got 2.5 kHz area better. I'm just lucky with HD688. It did not work with the HD687. I lost few desibels with the HD687 and did not measure any better or even slightly worse and did not sound any better. I noticed that new mod with HD688 sound was more dynamic. The bass was same, maybe because upper middle was more there and treble a bit softer. I did not do anything super analytical. Added second foam wall to the front and coated shiny plastic area with kinesio tape. See the picture. My measurements. 30Hz - 3.5kHz +-3.5 dB. Still hot treble but slightly more listenable on some hot treble songs. Edit. Then again you can add small amout cotton to the middle between foam pads and the grill on the front and get rid of the hot treble but then again you get very deep dip around 3900 Hz. If you don't planning EQ and using only phone then this may be the best choice for you.
Edit. Pictures how much the cotton and where to apply. I must say I enjoyed it a lot. The sound was very balanced and good sounding. Maybe a bit thinner to compared without the cotton at middle and after EQ it's just flat as possible. I prefer EQ but if u don't wanna do it, then do something else I need to try Frans filter circuit mod when I get the parts. It may make it even better without using EQ or the cotton at middle.

Thank you. I did not see that document. I was using phone so it was quite difficult to find anything. Yeah kinda expensive... Its quite risky to buy and if not like. Can't even try them anywhere. Only couple stores sell them in Finland and they are too far away.

Frans any plans to review those HP? I have not seen single measurement and not really honest reviews.

I wanted to buy Brainwavz pads, but could not find suitable ones for this model. Can someone advise Brainwavz pads for this model of headphones? Maybe I'll buy them for the experiment . Can anyone know how to make your pads? Round XL pads works. Same size to China AKG 110mm velours.

Chinese 'replacement' pads can be a hit or miss. Most of the 'K240' replacements I bought weren't really good replacements at all and changed the sound too much. Yeah. If you order from brainwavz it's more expensive but atleast quality is quaranteed. I have bought two pairs of 105mm velours. First was bad and second good. And another seller that I linked seems to sell good 110mm velour pads also.

110mm velour pad is better than 105mm. Thank you, I bought 110mm pads. I hope that the sound with these pads will be better . Atleast comfort will be. I don't know how they measure with that headphones and compared to original pads. Probably it's not too far away. You may even get more bass but hope not because that headphone has elevated subbass. I don't own HD662-EVO and it may be looser fit. If it's too loose 105mm may be better. Difference was 1.5 dB to 110mm pads. Not that big but I got more impact and volume.
