I loved the Royale Family. One I always remember is when he and the son in law were decorating and he used a towel to wipe the sweat away..........
Under his arms!!
I don't know what to suggest Simon. Mark might know what's going on. Aakshey has been called for bedtime.
Other than SW, it's a Kameleon from audio out I guess!!
Something really wrong there isn't there?

Someone will turn up hopefully Simon. I don't use the damned thing.
Just forget it for a day or so. It'll drive you nuts.

i have found a way i can hear a difference.
if i switch it from "active" to "available" dsp in foobar and back , i can hear a difference!! thing is , i prefer it OFF. ha ha. when its active the volume goes down. very odd. not for me , i think!

since my trouble with foobar seems to have gone, it may be worth me trying this again. i notice they cover the lcd2 now, so would be nice to compare with my filter.

The volume going down is true for all digital EQ. The reason for this is that in a digital signal the peak levels are near the 'maximum' level. Above this maximum level the DAC clips which is audible as 'harsh' sound. When EQ is applied that boosts the signal level then the digital signal will clip as it is already near clipping level. Solution: lower the average level digitally (reducing the number of bits effectively and the signal is not bit-perfect any more) and thus allow signals to be boosted without clipping. A louder signal (EQ-off) is often found to sound 'better'. The kameleon (or filterboard or any other analog EQ) are not afflicted by this BUT some noise might be added. Also the filtering (Sonarworks) is based on a measured headphone and thus may not 'fit' products with product variations that well. It may result in improved tonal balance but may also have some weird effects (due to the sharp and specific filters used) where the analog filter has a gentle 'averaging' correction.

This came from Mark. It might help ........ Quick question if I may. I see there is a check box within DSP studio called 'headphones'. Checking it brings up an option to set crossfeed. I assume because I am using the SW3 headphone plug in I should leave this disabled? Aakshey said 'don't turn on headphones' Dont turn on Headphones. That is crossfeed. For me it causes audible distortion. Especially if I use it along with other DSP. It is still better than third party Crossfeed, but not perfect.

Available = Off, not in use Active = in use There is a AB switch within Sonarworks to use instead of making the change in Foobar.

JRiver is worth it. 1. Foobar doesn't do video. 2. Jrvier can work system wide. Unlike VBA with Foobar which is a lot more complicated to setup with each system restart. 3. Jriver has a better UI. Foobar doesnt sound worse though. The above 3 are what makes JRiver better.

I found with the Kameleon that with some recordings, it could be very slight, until low bass kicks in. I presume you have the unlimited profile or whatever they call it for extended bass? I prefer SW without the extended bass profile.
