I think that the Kameleon sounds better. It supplies a better dynamic range and isn't limited to Apple stuff. Accudio is good on the Ipod Touch and Ipad since it does make the best of the headphones that you use. They're definitely less coloured sounding from it.
I'm not sure about digital/analogue eq. As long as it sounds ok, it doesn't really bother me which one I use. The Momentum really perks up a lot in the treble area.
The Kameleon can be used with anything as a source though so it's way more useful, plus the fact that it has a substantial amp section in there as well.

I have the paid versions of both Accudio Pro and Sonarworks for Headphones. Both are pretty good. I use Sonarworks much more because I mostly use my PC for music. But Accudio has a far bigger list of supported headphones. Do you feel Kamaleon is a significant audible upgrade portability aside? I don't care about it being portable as much. I am more interested in learning whether an analogue filter is technically better than a digital filter or is that irrelevant? I may go in for a Kameleon in a few months. But have not made up my mind yet. Hi techboy, sorry but I have to ask. Are you a pod-person? (That's a reference to an old 50's black and white sci-fi movie called 'Invasion of the Body-snatchers'). Has the old Techboy been abducted and replaced with a new one? The reason I ask is that your last half dozen or so posts have been absolutely fine. Completely normal. Not immensely irritating in the slightest. Maybe even informative? Anyway, if you haven't been abducted, and you are still you, then keep up the good work, you're doing great!!

I use Accudio normally on the Ipod Touch. It"s a pity that it's not been developed for other platforms and is limited to Apple stuff.
Aakshey, do you find that headphones become almost 'dull' sounding compared to how they sound without Accudio? Less colourful? That's why some don't like flat headphones, because there's not a lot that stands out on them.
I normally use the Touch for spoken podcasts because it collects them automatically for me and the most handy thing about Accudio is how voices don't 'bloom" from any headphone that I put through it. Much less synthetic sounding.
Some don't agree with the flat response that Golden Ears use as their target response though and that has been discussed quite a bit in the past.

To me HD 650 sounds slightly dull without Accudio, but not really that dull. HD 598 on the other hand sounds slightly dull WITH Accudio.

It's quite useful having the 'eq off' switch at the top in order to compare with and without eq. Sometimes, the effects are quite subtle.
I find the Creative Aurvana Live goes slightly 'duller' in the bass area and at first, 'seems' less lively but ultimately, more relaxing to listen to. Same for Momentum 2 and Portapro

Listened today. HD 598 sounds a bit dull without Accudio. Better and livelier with Accudio.

I think with eq, the timbre is improved a great deal and Accudio does a great job on my Touch. I use the Touch specifically for accessing Apple Music and Podcast collection, so using Accudio takes out the 'bloom' that you can get with so many headphones on mens' voices. The Momentum 2 is extremely good with eq direct from it. One of the best portables I've had I think. I prefer it to the Beyer dt1350 because it gives more 'body' to the sound and the mids are really nice on the Senns.
I think Accudio misses a trick though by not being able to integrate more so that Apple Music could go through it. The Touch has no equaliser so I can't even make an estimation. Mind you, I also think that Apple missed a trick by sending out stuff to stream at quite poor quality. I've been using it since they opened the service and although the selection of music available is excellent, the quality is not good at all. They could have offered a higher bit rate for those of us with better internet connections, so I found that very disappointing. I use it to just preview new albums now instead which isn't really what it was intended for.
As far as eq goes though, it doesn't improve the resolution of the headphone that you're using. It changes the timbre to something more natural, which Accudio does well.

I am yet to find even half the songs of my choice on Apple Music. Their collection is pretty bad unlike the iTunes Store. I stick to Match.

You do mean the Apple streaming service? I thought that it was linked to Itunes Store and allowed access to everything there. I've found newer ablums appearing on stream than anything else. There may be a new tv streaming service as well this year, I see.
I'll have a look and see if Itunes and Apple streaming differ......
Spotify offers slightly higher quality but I found that lacking in well lnown artists by comparison and quite a few large gaps.

Not linked. Apple Music is a subset of the store.

My understanding was the same as the following passage. Do different countries have a different service? Apple Music is all about streaming. You pay a flat fee to unlock access to Apple Music’s entire catalogue, but you don’t actually own the music you listen to. The files don’t live individually on your devices; you’re instead just listening to tracks stored remotely, that are owned by Apple. If you subscribe to any other media streaming subscription service—be it a music-only service like Spotify, Beats Music, Tidal, or Rdio, a TV service like Hulu, or a movie/TV combo service like Netflix or HBO Now—Apple Music functions the same way. This came from Macworld. www.macworld.com/article/2934744/software-music/apple-music-faq-the-ins-and-outs-of-apples-new-streaming-music-service.html

Apple Music isn't the same as iTunes Store. Apple Music has separate agreements based on what they are/aren't allowed.

Isn't it terrific that these days we rent the things we used to own? Not really. I prefer my own copies of everything.
