Hi,
I'm new here, but I have regularly visited to diyaudioheaven website for a few years. Currently I have the Philips SHP9500, which are my favourites, Fidelio L2 which I really enjoy. I have had a few other headphones but parted with them for various reasons.
Now to the HD 662 EVOs. I purchased these earlier this week. I wanted a closed closed back set of headphones so as I don't disturb my wife as she watches TV . The Philips are open back and semi-open. did a lot of reading about the 662 EVO headphone and other headphones. I used the website extensively to finally make a choice.
I want to make a point of giving a big thank you to solderdude for his extensive and informative information. This was especially true for the HD 662 EVOs. I totally agree with solderdude regarding my initial listens to these headphones. The mids seemed disjointed from the rest of the spectrum and sort of "boxy" in nature. The highs were a bit "toppy". The bass was good but the mids and treble ruined the overall effect. So the next day I did the mods recommended by solderdude. The 4 holes covered up, felt pad removed, 3 plies (that seems best for me after trying 2 plies of paper handkerchief). The difference was incredible. Thanks again solderdude . The mods and voices became a lot more natural and became part of the whole sound instead of the previous detached and unnatural sound and treble became very clear, airy and informative.
Now I want to ask if it is possible to keep the nature of this sound but have a bit more more bass elevation? Is it possible to adjust this mod slightly. Please don't misunderstand: I am not a bass head . The mod certainly flattened the whole frequency spectrum and I can certainly hear how low the bass goes. It's amazing how low it goes! So, is it possible to raise the bass output just a bit. I am using the pleather pads.
Thanks for any advice.
