This bring Jacques Loussier to mind with his Bach transcriptions. I have a few albums by Hiromi. Sonic Bloom being one which is great stuff.
Leszek Mozdzer is another jazz guy who performs jazz versions of trad composers pieces.

I'm quite partial to Jacqui Dankworth. In some ways, I prefer her to her Mum, Cleo Laine.

Love the album, love the band.
Can't decide whether I like the video more than the song or the song more than the video.
Maybe it's just that both are bloody brilliant! . . .
Or maybe it's just that I think Nina Persson is mmmmmmm . . . .

If anyone mentions The Blue Nile , I bet you all think of "Headlights On The Parade", "Tinseltown In The Rain", or "The Downtown Lights", but my favourite album is 'High' and my favourite song is probably Soul Boy . . .

I love listening to my music using a streaming solution. Another of it's advantages is that as I'm listening to an album or song I can quickly insert a vid into this thread since my "remote control" is actually a tablet.

Haven't listened to any Nick Cave for ages - listening to Richard Hawley always makes me think of old Nick . . . go figure Where do you start? He has made so many great albums. True, some have been better than others , but crikey, when he gets it right, he gets it RIGHT. From my personal point of view, pick any track from Abbatoir Blues, The Lyre of Orpheus, No More Shall We Part, Nocturama, or Let Love In and you're in for a treat.

O.K., guilty pleasure time! My biggest 'guilty pleasure' (apart from the mighty ABBA of course) is probably Maroon 5 You've got to admit though, it was a hell of a debut album!

Saw this guy live last year . . . superb. Effortlessly cool.
The riffs were totally graunchy, and his guitarist obviously had his foot hard down on the distortion pedal.
Listen in to the guitar in the back of this track - the old blues standard "Where Did You Sleep Last Night?". It sits quite far back in the mix . . . but focus in. It spends most of its time sounding dirty, distorted, and full of feedback. And boy does it sound GOOD.
This one sounds like he's channeling Marc Bolan and Alison Goldfraap at the same time . . . .
