That's an awful experience-and sometimes the security seems very slack in Spain. They don't even look at your passport sometimes, you just get waved through.
I find the X5 a bit heavy/ bulky when walking about, whereas the X3 fits so neatly in my trouser pockets. Interestingly I think there is a difference in sound between the two, the X5 seems clearer, maybe more upper mid/high, but is less warm and I can tolerate louder volumes better with the X3, maybe the X3 bass is better. I recall thinking the SS of the X5 may have slightly changed when I upgraded the firmware about a year ago-but no complaints, they are both great value and good sounding. I just use cheap SoundMagic in ear phones-they do the job fine.
Well, we are off to a Flamenco show tonight-wife likes the dancing and I believe the singing is very interesting- I'm not over enthusiastic, but we'll see.

Lovely. I never realised that you were in Spain. I use the Fiio (Dunu copies) with Comply tips with my daps on the go, but a Momentum at home if I don't want to ise an amp. I agree that the X5 is cooler sounding than the X3. Actually, I was comparing them last week and if you go between them, you do motice the extra warmth of the X3. I do like the X3 a lot. I have the older one so no wheel, but then I'm not really too keen on the Fiio wheels. They're a bit clumsy. Maybe I'll take my x3 to Norwich then!!

Yep-I have the X3 without the wheel too and I'm happy about that as well. Often I turn the X5 wheel the wrong way-just can't get used to it-especially changing tracks-it seems counter-intuitive. I have a feeling I may have read that a new firmware version might have reversed the wheel direction-not 100% sure though. I also have those Comply tips-they are very comfy.
I used to like the clip on my Zip and wore it all the time but then the clip broke away, dunno how as I didn't pull at it or anything, it just came apart, but Sansa said it couldn't be fixed (well it was two years old), so I just bought another one, Rockboxed it and I use it in bed and on the beach as I wouldn't mind too much if it got damaged or lost/stolen as it's cheap enough to replace. Enjoy Norfolk.

I use the X1 as the portable in the places where nicking or damage could happen. Same problems with the blasted wheel as well.
