Great pity. He was probably burning the candle at both ends. I think he collapsed recently after a series of shows and that may have been a warning.

I was moved by the news. First time in my life I get emotional over an artist dying. It's probably because I grew up with his music during his most creative years. I still love his 80's stuff to death (no pun intended).

Suspected cause is drug overdose. Pity. He was such a creative force in Minnesota and the world. I wouldn't consider myself a big fan, per SE, but I like quite a few of his songs and certainly appreciate what he has accomplished.

It's surprising how much he wrote for other artists as well as himself. Live, he was amazing and his guitar playing was just stunning. Some people didn't like him because they kind of thought of him as this little bloke trying to be sexy, but his serious stuff was really good imo.
The soundtrack to the Batman film is also very good. Almost gets a bit manic in places.
Oddball character who kept well away from the public as well.

I can't help turning this up loud.
A great tribute performance ....
It's difficult to find much John Petrucci on digital. Great pity.
For anyone not familiar with Prince, the Batman soundtrack is quirky and 'HitnRun' is full of fun and funk.
