Just in case someone didn't already know.... Available for iOS (Apple Store), Android (PlayStore) and Windows Universal (aka Windows Phone 10). I DL'ed the Andorid version today and so far I think is very nice player in every possible way.

Wasn't aware of this. Cheers for the heads up Javier.
I've been using Onkyo Player on the ipod touch recently and it's not half bad but been meaning to try some of the android apps on my phone.

Yes, 'thanks' from me as well. Will try Foobar out on my Sony Android phone later today.

I'm hoping it'll circumvent the annoying up-scaling thing that android insists on doing when connecting to an external DAC and will send tracks at their native bitrates.

Don't know but most likely no. I don't think those for the desktop version will work as they use different SDKs and are compiled dor different OSs Sent from my GT-I9505 using proboards

Has anyone tried out the upnp streaming function? I got the ios version, and it does connect and play fine from my WD MyCloud but it won't show all the music. Example: if I go into the artist index stu, it will only show the s artists

I havent tested UPNP, only played local files so cannot help. There is a mobile version support forum, I suggest you try there.

I have posted on their forum a while ago, but got no response. Not really looking for any troubleshooting here, just wanted to see what anybody else's experiences were on this front.

I tried it on a Samsung J5 but could not get Foobar to recognise songs on uSD card. There seems to be no way to tell Foobar to look on the uSD card. Have no such problems with VLC (nor any other players I briefly tried).
Want a player you: A: do not have to pay for. B: Devoid of annoying advertisements (related to A... I know). C: No trial periods (related to A... I know). D: Can play random songs E: Easy to operate (wife's phone)

Uncomplicated. There may an advert bar but can't remember, so if it's there it's unobtrusive. I don't like the playlist approach that seems the morm these days. So a player that just uses your music folder sturcture suits me fine. play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.zorillasoft.musicfolderplayer&hl=en_GB

MegaPoop3 320CBR You can browse the folders and then go into the music folder and select one of the songs. It will play everything from that folder just fine. Just am not able to tell the player all the music is on the uSD card instead of on the 'local' (phone's nternal) memory. Thanks Derek, will look into it. With some players the adds are so bad you cannot even press the play button which is hidden underneath adds that MUST be clicked on or have to watch video adverts before using it. I suspect most of the guys 'developping' them are in it to make some money first.

Open the program and tocuh the wrench icon on the top right of the screen, under settings go to Library and make sure "external storage" is there, if it is not then add it and scan again. That should solve the problem.
