I've noticed that the background on this amp is not "completely" black. There is a soft "shhhh." Very slight but there nonetheless. Just curious if this is inherent to the design. It is tube dependent.

I've not heard noise from any of the valves I've used thus far.

This has probably been beaten to death but I have searched the thread for a good source to buy the 7193 adaptor...

Nope, in fact Jeremy is working on the proto this week but found a snag that needs to be resolved.
The snag is the inrush current of some tubes which is on the high side. Jeremy is working on some possible solutions.

Copy that. Yes, I do have the 6SN7 adapter.
Next question: Recommendations for the tube as in where (like Ebay best seller) to buy them?
Many thanks!

What country are you in? Alot depends on where you are as far as shipping and possible duties to be paid. I live in US and purchased twice for the 7193 tubes from this seller...http://www.ebay.com/itm/371329485983?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT and he is very reliable. He only had two KenRad 7193 I bought them and contacted him and asked if he was going to get anymore, and he replied a day later that he could and did, I bought those two also. Ask the dealers, look at their ratings, and don't be afraid to ask them questions.

I'm in USA. The adapter has shipped from the guy you suggested. I ordered the one for 12AU7 tubes instead. If it is not tall enough, I have a pin saver adapter. If it is, that will save one adapter. I will let you know.
Found a good deal (I think) for a pair of tubes also shipped

Be aware that you might have to do some modifications to it in order for it to work with the auto-biasing of the Ember.

Here's a question that's only come to me because I've been experimenting with my output resistance. What's the output resistance when the jumpers aren't in place at all? Is it 0 Ohms?

No jumpers = 'High' setting = 120 Ohm. The 'high' setting is thus basically only a 'storage room' for the jumper.

Ah, OK. Yes, I hear it that way too. I assumed 0 Ohms but my ears were telling me something different, lol.
Thanks Frans.
