Welcome husafrea.
I heard a smaller member of the Nad family and it sounded pretty good. The place I went to didn't have have the hp50 but it's one that I fancy comparing to the Momentum.
I'd use low gain and low output impedance for them unless the gain is still to high and then maybe, raise the output impedance although that could slightly alter its sound.
I'm currently using a Jan Philips tube on mine after my last one (Orange Globe) seemed to go noisy. The Jan Philips seems pretty good as well. I was surprised how 'rocket proof' mine is with no noise and it's also not ringing if I tap it, which surprised me. It's a better tube than I thought in that respect.
I have quite a few 6n23eb tubes but they all ring like bells when touched so I was put off of them. They sound fine though but I don't like tubes ringing when I use the Ember as a preamp to speakers, just in case I'm getting a little extra 'richness' that I don't want!!

Welcome husafrea.
The NAD HP50 is a 'warm' and full bodied headphone with a good sound to it. Compliments the HD600 indeed, the HD600 is 'flatter', open and not so portable where the NAD is warmer/bassier, closed and portable.
The highest output R setting will sound slightly warmer, closer but not the same as HD650. For the NAD low output R and with the input attenuator used.
You can simply play around with the settings and tubes and tweak to your liking. Some changes are small and barely (if) audible on some headphones and may be bigger on others.

I just recently got a new router (in my new house in my new country) and for the first time ever I experienced noise through the Ember. They were both within 6" of each other but doubling the distance solved the problem.

I keep everything away from the ember, had a small noise problem only once, and I think it was due to the fact I have had too many x-ray's over the years and it was residual, I do glow alittle after dark, or after Glenfidich!

I gave up smoking on New Years Day. The hardest time is the first half-hour after waking. So, to avoid killing anyone I lock myself inside my headphones for an hour and listen to mellow music. It really works. I'm currently evaluating the new Sonarworks Reference 3 plug-in and I have to say it's damn good. Give it a try Frans. Sonarworks Reference 3 21-day trial

I haven't tried it (yet) but because their measurement rig and mine seem to produce almost the same results their 'compensated flat' is my compensated flat. I can't use it on my regular player (X3) and my PC is always on Ubuntu. The laptop downstairs is for speaker-fi, even though I do have a filtered T50RP down there which is rarely used.
Mine (Kameleon) is not as 'exact' though but on the other hand fully analog and gentle which works (for me) even better than digital EQ.
Jeremy has told me he wants to start on the G1217 filter module any day now... in G1217 open frame style. If he doesn't (lack of time, not willingness) I will make my own version in the Kameleon portable enclosure style. So end of this year there should be something 'available'.

The jury is still out on that. Over here we have vigorous debates about it. Flat or round? It is all a matter of opinion. There is no scientific conscientious on the topic. Also, the Sun is carried across the sky by a guy in a chariot. Not many photons here today. More rain. And we couldn't be happier. You have to turn the Ember on to hear music? Now I am really confused.

Is the difference between an analogue filter and digital EQ so obvious? I'm not sure I'd be able to tell the difference but I look forward to trying. If the G1217 filter is in the same frame does that mean it'll be stackable with the Project Ember, Polaris etc? Can't wait if it is.

I am hoping Jeremy is ready to start building the filters soon.
