I think you got the last pair from that UK seller. They are getting much more difficult to find now. The Visseaux 6J5 was the very first single triode I tried and it turned out to be the best overall too IMHO.

Yes I believe he is out, I bought two pair from him awhile back, and I think he is out. I am going to sell off one pair of the Visseaux 6J5's to fund another up and coming adapter/tube change. Want to try what I can before I expire. Will be selling for same price I bought them for, no gouging, just pure sound.

Well, I would be interested in buying them. I would rather just buy one though. Assuming they plug in directly, I don't want to mess with adapters. I looked on eby and they only sell in two's and four's, and they were expensive! is that pretty normal?

Last night I realized that with the input attenuation ON I could turn my HD600's up full volume and easily listen, this is through my phono stage which is pretty low out put. After about the 2:00 position they just didn't increase in volume anymore. I could easily listen to them at full volume although admittedly they were pretty loud. So I pulled the top and turned off the attenuation and then I was able to turn the volume up too loud for any practical purpose. My "conundrum" is that my other headphones are the HP50's and they are very efficient and much louder. Also my CD source is much louder. A set it and forget it (more like a "leave the top on") solution would have the input attenuation off. But then the volume knob would be very low with the HP50's and especially when listening to CD's. I wonder what exactly is going on when the volume stops increasing when turning the Ember volume knob past 2:00 with the HD600's? I know the Ember is not lowering the volume, my system is, my phono stage is just very low output. The Ember volume settings closely follow my preamp volume settings when listening to my speakers. But without the volume "cut off" above 2:00 position.

In my opinion changing the tube makes a subtle difference. That difference is (to my ears) larger when changing the tube family, and more subtle within the family. The 6J5 has been so far the best tube that I have tried, but you may get a bigger sound improvement/difference by changing your cans. For me these tubes have given the cans I already have a very nice flavor :-) You may want to check some of the cheaper 6J5 tubes, apparently they are not far at all in sound at a fraction of the cost. Some users here have tried very nice ones.

Ah, so it is one of those frankenstein twin tube setups.

Sort of...without the cables :-) You can look at howie's or musicmans avatar for examples.

It is indeed one of these frankenstein creations. Two tubes and an adapter like Junkejazz says. With the sen 650 cans this sounds excellent, best I have heard on the ember, I have 39 other tubes that have gone thru her. Picked up a pair of Senn 700's and I did not ever think I would put the 650's aside, but I have had these a month now and have not put the 650's back on yet. Attachments:

Just checking in (been busy moving after the holidays) and found all the talk about filter modules. Way cool!
Frans, will the G1217 filter module include the same filters seen on the Kameleon?

Yes, that would be my preference. The exact same filter PCB's.
No idea when Jeremy can start working on it though.

They will be the same - Frans made a good case to keep them the same!
Already started but not far. More focus soon. Good news for everyone that wants one, the linear production boards are due in this week. Also starting work with the chassis manufacturer late this week for the aluminum enclosure. Hammering things out for sure!

This is VERY cool. I'll gladly grab one when they're done!

I might try that myself (the filter). I have HD600's and I just don't understand how popular they are. I might try and trade them for a pair or 650's. I get how a filter could decrease frequencies to control something like the 650 but not if they could create them, and for me the 600's just don't have enough bass.

If you're not keen on the hd600, you might not really like the hd650 that much either. They are pretty similar so it might be better if you could manage to hear an HD650 alongside your hd600 first.

Imagine a HD600 that has (deep sub) bass and is a tiny bit less 'strident' in the treble. That's what the filter will do for the HD600
