Would you care to share where on ebay you picked up the adapters? I thought I was done with this when I moved on to the 6SN7's. Thanks. Edit found the them, Oh Lord here we go again!

I am glad you found it. For any others that are interested you can do a search on eBay for 7193 tube and the adapters will show up. There appears to be at least two versions available a white colored one and a clear version. Of course I had to buy both. It's only money right. The clear one seems to be a little better quality IMO. Regardless of which one you get be aware of the placement of the plate and grid caps on the tube. The clear one has them labeled the other not. If you do get the white version I advise ohming out the caps to the pins. Using the data sheet for a 6SN7 measure plate 1 pin to cap for V1 etc. As far as the tubes go I picked these up on eBay as well. Fortunately they sell for fairly cheap. My first set was a pair of RCA's. I then went for a pair of Ken Rad's and I'm glad I did. The RCAs sounded good, super clean. But I think the Ken Rad's are a little fuller.

That amp looks like it must have an enormous schwanzstucker! It's going to be very popular.

Thanks for the heads up on which adapter you find better, it does look like a slightly better build in the pictures. Ken Rad tubes sound great with the Ember, so would look for those with this adapter.

Thanks for the heads up on which adapter you find better, it does look like a slightly better build in the pictures. Ken Rad tubes sound great with the Ember, so would look for those with this adapter. Since I got the Ken-Rad 1945 VT-231 it seems to just stay in the Ember. Sometimes I switch to another tube that better matches an album (yeah crazy) but this tube works so well with so many types of music. Mahler in particular, and most of the RCA Living Stereo re-issues on SACD that I worry I am going to wear out the tube too fast. Good thing I bought a pair. Oh, and now this new idea. Someone stop me before I buy another tube. I'm starting to look like a 1950''s TV repairman when I go to meets. Can't decide which tube to bring so I pack them all, like I was going on a two week holiday or something. Has anyone found this tube type in a Ken-Rad? Edit: found some. Nice price. All I found so far are on eBay outside the U.S. Several on UK site it looks like. Oh my why I am looking? This is how it starts.

I feel your pain, I am in the same boat, thought I was done, and will be IF I don't follow FrankenEmber's lead. always liked the way the external cap leads looked. I am torn, also found that most tubes are from China suppliers, found two ken rads from the states but are untested.

Good to know. I didn't have time for a close look. Thanks. Resisting the urge.

The connectors on top are where the plate and grid attach instead of the pins on the tube. I believe this is done for added isolation. Yes this amp setup is definitely a face only a Mother could love, but boy I think it sounds good.

Looking for some opinions on interconnects. I just received the Ember yesterday. I ordered some Monoprice premium cables to connect the amp to the Oppo 105. Any thoughts on suitability of these cables as opposed to more high-end/pricy ones?
Thanks, David

Personally, I wouldn't spend the money on pricey interconnects. A nice, solid, sensible connection that won't break down is all you need imo.
I learned a very expensive lesson with a cable and I'd never do it again.
In fact, it can be cheaper to change the headphone and get much more of a change!!

I'm with on Ian with this one. Bought some exotic interconnects many years ago. Embarrassed to say what I paid. Definitely not worth it. There are lots of good reasonably priced cables out there. And sound the same as the megabuck ones. There is no real science anywhere to show any differences. Others may disagree.
