Newpy Hap Year! I'm not half as drunk as you think I am. OK, seriously, we're quiet old fuddy duddies, just having a non-eventful evening at home. Best wishes to the entire DIY Audio Haven crew and families.

Old Folks here... in bed by 11pm we were. Had the radio on but were asleep before midnight and missed the chimes. Special day today though. It's my wife's Birthday :-) We'd planned a trip up to the coast but weather is grey and raining. So quiet day at home, again. Listening to music, reading and cooking a Birthday dinner. Something with roast gammon is likely. Happy New Year everyone :-)

Congratulations Derek.
And to all a great 2017 !
P.S. Alan's wish read a little strange to me.. at least the sentence: we wish ye a neuk on the sunny side
Reason.. in Dutch the word 'neuk' means 'f#ck'

It's the Scottish for 'place' or 'corner', Frans. In English .... nook, but spelt more like the way that they say the word up there!! They probably call that a feuk. It's the way that they speak in 'Scortlind'..

Sounds like the UK where no one gives a neuk. Actually, seeing that Scottish brogue always reminds me of the Scot in Dad's Army .... 'We're doooooomed'. Pike always makes me the of the English for some reason. ‘Long may your chimney smoke’, this is the best way to wish someone a long and healthy life. Where on earth do the Scots get these things from, Mark? So much of it is in very old English/Scottish as well. Not like UK, where we all copy the Americans!! 'Well bad'. How does 'Auld Lang syne' mean 'in days gone by'? Literal meaning is 'Old Long Ago' ....Scottish sayings are totally baffling to me!!
