Looking for a decent desktop dac, I own a amp/dac tube hybrid combo raccoon sg800? Tiny tube amp dac . It lacks a good dac yet has a capable amp.

Couple of questions. What inputs do you need? Any specific price range? Where are you located?

How so? Can you explain what idsd is and how it would benefit me? Thank you. This is a iDSD micro, a USB DAC + headphone amp. Its cheaper sibling is the iDSD nano and now there is an even cheaper option, the iDSD nano LE

It has proper driving force. Sound and build superb. There are many options to adjust the power output, right down to being able to drive an iem. It works as a standard amp or dac and once you've heard one via USB from your computer on a good recording, your jaw will have trouble coming back!!! Superb dac/amp.

Maybe someone else here has some ideas. $125 is not much but I expect you may be able to find something used for that price.

Here's a wild thought. Although the item is intended to be used as a headphone USB DAC and amplifier, how about the Cambridge DacMagic XS? UK price is approx £100 so USA price will be not much different.
One USB 1.0 or 2.0 asynchronous input (for Windows USB 2.0, download a driver), one 3.5mm output jack. 24/192 PCM and downwards playback and that's it.
I have been totally impressed with this little gadget since I bought mine more than 2 years ago. I haven't tried it directly into a line input socket but judging from the sound quality it always achieves, regardless of headphone load, I'd say it might just work. I can see the XS, working into a high impedance line input load, finding life there very easy. Don't Cambridge offer a money back guarantee for the XS?
Pity you're not in the UK. You could have chosen beteeen my MF V90 DAC or my Cambridge Azur Dacmagic The V90 is particularly stunning and you should be able to find one 2nd hand on Ebay.
edit & p.s: I have no idea how competent the DAC section of your "amp/dac tube hybrid combo raccoon sg800" is, which means that a DacMagic XS may just be a step backwards. For what it's worth, the XS is built around the ESS Sabre ES9023 DAC chip.

Derek's mention of the MF V90 reminded me that my first DAC was a Musical Fidelity V-DAC. This one was highly recommended by some of the audio reviewers (Stereophile) and not expensive.
I sold it a few years ago for $50-60 bucks so, if available, one of these or a V-DAC II would be a good choice. The V90 is probably still out of the desired price range.
I suggest searching "dac" on the auction sites and see what's available.
