I had a similar experience when I tried to buy an espresso machine some time ago. It turned out to be a hacked amazon account that suddenly started to offer way too cheap products. Amazon refunded my money without trouble...

I'd like to know if anything has happened with Syd....... Nothing to report so far or I would have been back. Amazon requires me to contact the seller, give them two days to reply. Did that, no reply, I thought the 'real' Solitaire might have got in touch. So I have now requested a refund, they get two days to answer that, so it will be Friday before I can do anything it seems. I contacted credit card company and though it's on my account as pending, they say it has been approved and they can't do anything. I've to call another dept. in the morning as they don't operate 24 hours. Another instalment to follow. Syd

I finally managed to speak to someone at Amazon and she is passing the information over to an investigation department. I should hear back tomorrow.
I was able to point her to his latest attempt as Wolfgang Finke but the same 'contact email address' message, this time the goods will be dispatched from Germany.

only ever bought one or two cheap things off amazon, are they usually good at dealing with this kind of thing? ebay were pretty good when i had to report a dodgy seller on there. got refund immediately.

I hope to get the Fostex money back, eventually, the most frustrating thing is that the guy is still at it, I've now seen a third offer at that price, different 'person' but same email address. That is despite telling Amazon two days ago. It's frustrating that you get a series of questions to ask on their website, if you answer them correctly you get first, you must contact the seller and give him two days to answer, then raise a cancellation and give him another two days. I broke out of that spiral and got a call back from Amazon, nearly three days ago. The girl was very nice but she only has authority to pass it to their investigation department. It doesn't work at night They then take 2 days to get back to you, so far three in my case. I started the calls again and they didn't act as if they had any knowledge of the first session, though I'm sure they did. Just to finish the week off nicely my watch winder's motor failed. A bit of a relief as I thought it was the watch itself. So I dismantled it and sure enough a nice little motor tucked inside. Contacted Maxon, £80 plus £20 for post, it's a little can motor and weighs about 50 grams max. The company is Swiss so despite the UK website I fear it might be + import costs. RIP watchwinder! Syd

Got this from Amazon this morning "We're writing about the marketplace order you placed on 2017-01-29 with Solitaire. Unfortunately, Solitaire has not confirmed the dispatch of this order, and we are unable to provide you with dispatch details yet.
ORDER DETAILS
Order ID: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Merchant name: Solitaire Item(s) to ship: Name: Fostex TH900 Flagship Premium Reference Headphones Qty: 1
Because dispatch of this order has not yet been confirmed by the seller, your credit card has not been charged and we are not able to provide you with dispatch details.
If you would like to ask Solitaire for more information about the status of this order, including the expected dispatch date, you may contact the merchant directly by replying to this email message.
Thanks for shopping with us."
This seems to part of their 2 days to answer etc. process as I have no answer to my reporting three attempted frauds and there is yet 'another' seller on this morning, same price etc.!
I've checked and my CC no longer has any sign of the charge, despite cc company telling me the payment had already been made and couldn't be stopped.

Blimey. Stop the payment quick Syd!!
These companies do seem very reticent to challenge rogues. Same with the fake MSR7. That company is STILL there and selling them. I spoke to EBay about it and also Audio Technica.
Seems that everyone is frightened to challenge these jerks.

I'm not sure if it's a case that Amazon won't challenge them so much as they are powerless to stop them!! Seems that when Amazon are onto them the scammers just take over another account and the game starts again.
You would think there were measures that Amazon could take to tighten up security though even if it was just a stop-gap until they could put something more robust in place e.g. two-step account verification when 'seller' logs in from a different IP. But perhaps being a large company with complex systems also makes them a slow reacting one?
tbh I'd like them to send out a mailing to all customers reminding them never to purchase from a seller who asks them to send payment outwith Amazon checkout. But it seems like they are trying to keep things on the quiet in the hope nobody notices.

I spoke to EBay about it and also Audio Technica. Seems that everyone is frightened to challenge these jerks. It's OK Ian, Amazon had withdrawn their 'pending' charge on the CC. It was while I was trying to stop payment when the £384 was sitting marked 'pending' on the CC site a few days ago that I tried to stop it, CC person said they couldn't stop it, it had already gone (that would be to Amazon Market Place a/c) it was clearly incorrect because Amazon email said they had cancelled the hold. So it never went to Amazon. But at least it seems clear that they remain as pending with your CC company until the seller has dispached the goods. There is no mention of it on my online statement now, I thought it would be still on the list with a second entry showing pendind reversed but no, just gone as if it never happened. Thinking about it, hotels often do that when you check in, then replace it with the correct charge when you check out. Syd

Got this from Amazon this morning: Dear Customer,
We're writing to inform you that your order xxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxxx from Solitaire has been cancelled. If you're still interested in this item, please search for it again on Amazon.co.uk.
We've included your order details below for reference.
We value you as a customer and hope you will continue shopping on Amazon.co.uk.
Warmest Regards
Amazon.co.uk
Sort of confirms that no-one talks to each other in that organisation.
