I have always been envious of your large gold knob Ian. Nice video as well.

There's no need for knob envy Ron. It's just better for smaller twiddle. I'll have to dig in my cupboards now to see if I have anything else worth filming that isn't ten years old!!

The Hutch seems to have turned into a video production line lately. I hope none of the bunnies are having their workers' rights violated Each video seems to be getting more professional I think Ian. Think it made sense for you to stay behind the camera for this one due to you getting under the hood, so to speak. Now that you have some samples of your work you could perhaps send links to a few companies and see if they'd be willing to loan some of their gear to film? I know Final Audio used to be pretty good at sending stuff out to hobbyists to review or do unboxings for instance. ps. does YouTube let you add tags or popular search words on your videos? Noticed that when searching for the Ember video that depending on how I word things it appears near the top or in some cases not at all e.g. Garage 1217 Project Ember (2nd top) vs G1217 Project Ember (not listed) vs Project Ember (8th top).

Thanks Mark. I'll check the tags out. I tried to include what I thought but I've missed one that you've entered. It's experimental on my part at the moment. I don't want to put out good/bad videos because there will always be someone who thinks the opposite, so I'm concentrating on the look and features with maybe a few pointers for beginners as well. (Like how to roll a tube) main thing is that I'm trying to attract interest by producing nicer than yer average video and try to guide people here. It would be useful if companies sent out gear for me to shoot but they need to build trust in your capabilities perhaps before they start doing that. Once they see a few, you never know, they may well send some out. That's another idea of mine, since if they do, I could arrange a mini tour as well. I only have so much gear ..... I noticed that the bigger hits are new products. So it looks like that might create sales for companies and we get more people popping in here into the bargain. It works both ways then. So the aim is to make them look slick and visually nice. Been playing around with various filters to process the images and the Ember seems to be a bit more sparkly, which I thought kind of suits tubes!! If manufacturers see that I would paint a positive picture of gear, they might be more willing to send things for review. I'm not going to be running gear down unless it really is terrible. We'll see. They don't take me too long to produce and I have the time now so I don't mind. I'd like to see this place light up a bit more and although you are most definitely one of the bulbs, we need some more fairy lights!!! One I'd like to do is the Kameleon; especially for the cynics on HF and the people who don't know much about them and turn the other way. That's a unique video for YouTube and is a fantastic product. If I get my mits on one, I'll definitely do it. It has to look pretty for video though because my voice is quite rough!!! I didn't have G1217 as a tag. I'll put that in now. If there are any others, let me know because obviously, I want to see how the hits pan out.

I've sent a message to Final Audio to see whether they'd be interested.

Again a really nice review... Excellent info there.
Do note that the Ember in the video is a prototype. The PCB on this one doesn't have the typical black silkscreen on it.

I think in terms of getting hits then it definitely pays to do videos of newly released or niche but desirable products. With something like the Charge 3 I'm sure if you'd released your video a while ago hits would be in the thousands, but with popular products everyone and their dog is doing an unboxing or review so much harder to rank highly in searches unless you get your foot in the door early. And with the Flip 3 you probably need a USP to stand out from the crowd because you are contending with the American version of Joey Essex. And he has a nice sailing cap. Explosions work for me Did you contact Final in Japan or their European arm? If you don't get a reply then you could try contacting their EU rep on Head-Fi or KS Distribution who are the UK distributor (also do distribution for Soundmagic among others I think). www.ksdistribution.co.uk/contact-us/If they give you the cold shoulder then with I can send you down a pair of Heaven V if you want to get your revenge....perhaps you could blow them up?

I should have said. Thanks Frans. I'll put a note onto the YouTube upload. It's a learning curve ....... I went into their Eu site I think, Mark and left a message. I also linked the vids. You never know. Once one company takes, it might be easier to get others and I'll shove up as many videos as I can if I have stuff to show. For me, it's no big deal because I have video gear that sleeps in the cupboard. I'm trying to make them look a bit more professional than those horrible things where people sit and rant in front of the camera with loads of errs and aaahs in there. I felt uncomfortable at first but feeling a bit more confident about it now and getting into my strides. I'll just see how those ones go, but so far, very good. Had some nice emails and comments so people have noticed that they're a bit prettier than the kid in his dirty bedroom or some itchy bloke staring at you!!

Although you don't have the numbers right now hopefully companies will see the potential in what you are trying to do. Good to hear that your videos are being well received on the whole though. I'm sure you'll get your share of detractors too but that's youtube for you. And if folk are watching then you are doing something right. KS Distribution might be a good bet, not just for Final but their other IEM / headphone partners too. Notice this amongst the services they offer: See if you can wangle the Sonorous X for a wee members tour please

I sent a message to public relations, I think it was. I'll wait to see whether there's any kind of response. You never know.
The Master video has been seen 547 times in a week so that's not bad. New you see!!
