Because I moved away from my PC setup I'm selling my Asus Essence STX soundcard. This card served me really well the last couple of years. It comes fully modded in a professional way and works like a charm. For full info look at my thread here: diyah.boards.net/thread/1006
To resume about modifications: - 20+ capacitors recap using high-quality Elna Silmic II caps - Replaced stock clock with a High precision TXCO low-jitter temperature stable Clock - 2x LME49710HA op-amps as Buffer - 4x OPA827 op-amps in I/V position mounted on the needed adapters
The sound is balanced, detailed and coherent from top to bottom and has a nice warm tilt to it. It is a very different sound from the stock ST/STX card which sounds thin and a bit harsh in the highs. I preferred it to Schiit Modi Multibit (USB, coaxial and optical inputs were all tested during the comparison between the units) in both bass slam and articulation and highs which in Modi were veiled and too laid-back.
Modifications alone are worth > 100€ but I'm asking a low price because I'd be glad if some DIYAH regular user could enjoy it as much as I did. Looking for 150€-> 110€ (for regulars) excluding shipping.
Bank transfer or Paypal as you prefer. Shipping in Europe but will consider also shipping worldwide.
If you need any other information please feel free to ask.
lobalwarming: Meanwhile... stick some cotton rolls under the pad roll to fluff 'em out a bit. Or just admit you like the free bass boost from worn pads. It's what I do. Except the admitting part

Mr Trev: "few days". It's said that for at least a couple weeks. I though about Brainwavz since they make adapters for Senn. Reviews say they're 3d printed garbage tho

Mr Trev: Maybe I should say "to heck with it" and just buy a ATH-R70x. Folks claim they're like 650s, but with proper bass

lobalwarming: Or... buy from Jeff... $10 more vs many $100s more for the R70x. Not sure they have 'proper' bass - more similar to the 650s than not. And not nearly as smooth up top.

Mr Trev: IIRC when I was on Headphone Bar's site they had Dekoni pads on sale for the same price as stock Senns. I'd probably go that route before being gouged an extra $10 (honestly, how can foam and velour be worth $60 in the 1st place)

Mr Trev: I just don't know how well the sound change would go down for me

lobalwarming: With the supply chain issues... $62 for a little foam and fabric is cheap. BTW - my official Senn pads cost $64 in 2019. And well worth it. ;-)

lobalwarming: I have the Dekoni Elite Velours for the 650. Gives them a big 'proper' bass boost, so you might like them - didn't at the time, but was my anorexic tonal period. Mood and whims change - pad rolling is almost as much fun as tube rolling. For only more $$$

Mr Trev: My X2 fulfills my "bassy" needs, so I don't need to go there. I'm surprised the X2s don't get more love. They seem to straddle the "fun" and "audiophile" lines pretty well IMO

Mr Trev: One of the guys I chat with on HF strongly prefers the Dekonis over the stock pads. He seems to be the exception though, most impressions I've read aren't too positive. Except for comfort, Dekoni apparent wins that hands down.

Mr Trev: Happy Turkey Day Lobey - and any other Canadians looking in
