Hi, I have a Behringer Untramatch D-A and A-D converter that has a wordclock termination. This is an IN not an OUT. I understand that these are used to synchronise DACs and other digital recording equipment in studios. Is there any benefit to using this facility for home audio use? If so would it need to be supplied with a Masterclock to get anything worthwhile out of it? If it requires a Masterclock, how would one implement this?
Thanks
Rob.

Well the wordclock is indeed used to synchronise clocks on more than one ADC/DAC This is essential when using more than 1 interface or when dubbing. Studio work thus.
For home usage the clock the Behringer Ultramatch Pro SRC2496 comes with is more than capable and an external clock is thus only needed for studiowork.
BUT as with all things in life there are those that claim an external super low (phase) noise clock is 'better' than that of the DAC and thus SQ would be better. We are talking clocks here that are waayyyy much more expensive than the DAC's itself. Think well over 500GBP and the better ones are well over GBP 2000 I seriously doubt that an external clock would be better than the one already in there.
Personally I would not use an external clock

Ok, thanks for that. I have to say that I have been very pleased with the sound it makes. Rob.
