I don't think DVI is going to support 4K though I may be wrong, DVI is a rather old connection but who knows.... anyway DVI<->HDMI is completely transparent but if your monitor has speakers you'll need another connection for audio

In my experience Lindy is a cheap but no nonsense reliable brand. They might not be fancy but their stuff works.

found an unused hdmi to dvi cable in a drawer and it works fine upto 1080p , which i believe is my monitor's max res anyway. just had to spend out on a DP cable for my pc. but cheaper than the hdmi to DP adapters.
only slight issue i've had is flaky auto switching on the idsd inputs.
