HIFIMAN is replacing their HE400, HE560 and Edition X line with 2 models priced in between the models. The HE400 series and HE560 are being replaced by the Sundara. A nice headphone for around $500.- The niche between the HE560 and Edition X(v2) is filled with the Ananda. An Edition X(v2) look alike for $1000.- There is not much info out there yet so if you want to know more about the Ananda have a look here: diyaudioheaven.wordpress.com/headphones/measurements/hifiman/ananda/I think its a step up from the HE560 and perhaps even the Sundara is an improvement over the HE560. Of course the $ 1000.- is pretty steep and the very large ear cups may not be for everyone. Below the frequency response of the Ananda ( Left, Right) In any case.. it is highly efficoient and plays loud from a phone already. This is its main advantage. Not suited for outdoor usage as it is VERY open. It is great for indoors usage from a phone or desktop amp in any location. Below the Sundara versus the Ananda:

I just bought the Ananda a week ago. It is a really good headphone, lots of dynamics with great punch and slam. The reason why I write this is because I read that some reviewers found the Ananda to be somewhat lacking in dynamics. This is true when you pair the Ananda with a phone. But when you pair it with a SPL Phonitor SE, it becomes a different headphone: lots of dynamics and great punch and slam. I wouldn't recommend using the Ananda straight out of a phone.

Yes, the Ananda is a pretty interesting headphone that is quite sensitive for a planar headphone of this size.
