I only had to Pay taxes for Superlux stuff sent directly from the factory but that was because they mentioned the actual value. They did mark the 'gift' tickbox but as it also stated 'commercial sample' on the box I still got taxed. The postal service in the UK seem to notice Chinese parcels more than USA actually. I always cop tax on Chinese stuff but the O2 arrived untouched by human tax. Superlux should have taken a little more note of listeners and they'd have had a killer headphone. The treble is more controlled but that bass!!! (If that's what you received, Frans)

1W on the LCD2/3 will produce 121dB SPL. Pain threshold.... with 6W on it 128dB can be reached which is a bit of overkill IMO. The same power levels can be reached by connecting it directly to a 75W/4Ohm amplifier. Live rock music is between (108 - 114 dB) b.t.w. On Mick's HE-6 1W will 'only' produce 107dB. The LCD2 and LCD3 will basically sound the same with a filter attached to it AND be perfectly flat as opposed to shelved with a little peak in the highs in stock form. I know a Dutch guy who imported most of his expensive headphones from the USA (via head-fi) and had no problems with shipping or paying taxes. I only had to Pay taxes for Superlux stuff sent directly from the factory but that was because they mentioned the actual value. They did mark the 'gift' tickbox but as it also stated 'commercial sample' on the box I still got taxed. is it not the case that a powerful amp running at lower volume, will perform better than a weak amp at high level volume?

Not as long as they can reach the same power levels. 1W is 1W regardless where it comes from.
Performance of an amp is dictated by the used circuit (distortion, power, FR) and the power suppy as well as the PSRR of the amplifier in question.

Just thought I'd through in something which might be of interest to some. I'm sure there's a service called . . . I'm thinking Dropbox but I know it's not that. It's called something-box. It's for when an american company will not ship to a UK address. You buy the item from the american retailer and give the PO box which the company supply. Its delivered to that PO box, the company then ship it to you. For a fee of course. Don't know how expensive it is. Jeff

Ian - Frans - Javier, am I doing something wrong? Or not doing something I should ? I've just noticed that, like Dave and Alan, I can't seem to get links to work properly. Can you investigate? I would normally think the problem is because I'm such a 'dunderheid', , but when guys like Dave and Alan are having problems as well, it surely can't be just me.

I did look into using their service some time ago but the potential savings and uncertainty about any UK Customs 'cut' did not seem to justify the bit of hassle involved - the bigger the potential savings the greater the likelihood of the Customs wanting a bit of my 'dosh'. Dave.

It's not just the amazing depth of knowledge that impresses me here, but the breadth as well . . . Not only that but also free to write constructively and enjoy the forum without the "mess" as in any good forums. Yeah, the fun part is important too and don't we ever forget that.
