If you’re looking for something reasonable that doesn’t cost the earth, the price on this colour has dropped to way below what it was. When I first had a pair, I found them ok. Not brilliant, but one thing I really liked was that they seal on my obstinate ears really easily. Build isn’t that fantastic but they really sound OK. My old ones clapped out when I caught the wire on a chair and so replaced them when I saw this price. Here’s an ear opener though ..... I could get my old ones to work and so could compare sound. The new pair sound very different to the old pair so I do wonder about consistency with earbuds sometimes and whether what we are describing when views differ so much is a different headphone! As luck would have it, the new pair seems better than my old pair. Deeper bass and more defined treble. The old pair sounds very ‘middly’ by comparison. Anyway, they are great run around cheapo earbuds that are really comfortable to wear. (I often fight with iem’s to get the to feel comfortable or to get them to fit) www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0126RAPDQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The ones you shove in your ear canal are In-Ears or IEM's (In Ear Monitors) Then you have IEM's that are made from a mold from your own ears (most comfortable used by many singers/musicians) these are called CIEM's (Custon In Ear Monitors) .. expensive. The ones you 'hang' in the Concha are called ear buds. Then there are ear-clip headphones that have a clip that wraps around the Pinna and has a small speaker attached to it or an ear bud or an on-ear driver. The Amazon link thus uses the wrong wording. Those are ear buds. Like these: The one Ian mentions are In-ears. For me neither work. When using ear buds I can't get a good seal as one ear has a larger Concha than the other. One falls out, the other stays. I don't like shoving things in my ear. Probably is a matter of getting used to but I don't want to.

Thanks for the explanation! I don't like the ones that get shoved into the ear canal, I can live with the 'ear buds' type in some cases (when lying in bed; over ears are usually far too big there).

Earbuds seem to be having a bit of a renaissance these days. I've talked to a few people that are really into the "diy" bud scene. Haven't tried any myself, I can't get past the awful X-Bass earbuds I used back in my before time, but I've been assured the new models can sound damn good. I've also had folks recommend using a cable up position for people who have trouble with them falling out. Maybe someday I'll get a pair to try and and see for myself.

I also have one ear wider than the other, so I put a medium bud in one side and large in the other.
I think with earbud types, many people push them in too far and combine that with too large buds. That feels more secure in the short term, but over a period of time, my ears start to itch if they’re too tight.
I just push past the seal and leave it there, but there are a bucket load of iem’s that I can’t keep in. I had a lot of bother with the Trinity iems, and that was caused by the width if the tube that the tip fits on to.
The Senn Momentum seems to suit my ears as far as fit goes, really well. Sound is ok but seeing that I use them for low profile outside use, they’re good enough for me.

Earbud types, one medium bud in one side, large in another? How? I mean the buds are fixed size, attached to the cables. Do you have special earbud headphones where you can change these? Or are we talking about IEMs rubber tips? This is why I asked about proper terminology, it always confuses the hell out of me and I can't follow what's being said

One could make one wider by putting some shrink-wrap around the edge of the driver. And hope you don't destroy the driver when heating it
