It seems the recent price drops of the gen2 models wasn't just for any reason. The gen3 are on their way. Steve Guttenburgh, self called Audiophiliac, reviewed them sloppily on Youtube: Beyer T1 and T5 gen3 reviewI hope to see more meaty reviews of these, anyone finding one please post them in reply, thanks!

I really should visit my headphone dealer. He has so many new headphones incl. these to try. Too busy and this corona thingy also is something to consider.

I haven't visited this shop ( www.earsunlimited.com/) in over a year now. A lot of new models came out last year. Curious about many of them including new brands they carry.

It is my first post here on this forum so hello and thank you so much for running such an informative place! I spend few h reading stuff that does not concern me but curiosity make it too tough to stop. Going back... I let myself refresh topic regarding Beyers latest T1 - 3rd gen. I found a lot hate and love about this cans and this intrigue me as Beyers are really easy to mod. With recent discounts and amount of them on used market i decided to listen them by myself. Capabilities of this are incredible. Yes, they are much darker and warm and with that they have their flaws which i think can be addressed. Of course i look in to this for few answer for myself (not many have measuring equipment randomly laying around) but i think it could be a great challenge and article for your site. I've tried this without absorbing foam (T5s rubber ring for sealing: 916676 - 1€ (Beyer in nutshell)) with few Dekoni and 1990 pads. Everything brings something to the table. I quite like this with DT1990A pads but they are unfortunately much more shallow then original. I was few months ago in Netherlands so i could bring everything i have for some tests if only i knew about you back then. Nonetheless i write this just as suggestion if you would ever have opportunity to check them out, i see quite potential there! Also, I read whole article about DT1990 and you make me wanna get one and mod it all the way to perfect piece of equipment (going balanced with passive filter and fine velours). Thank you, this hobby is really unhealthy... All best!

Welcome to our heady little place, sspkt!
I've leapt into the 1990 modding stream too. Have experimented with a variety of pads, passive/active filters and damping. Getting there. Using the 1990 with RealPhones for work and it has been great. Even if I'm still getting accustomed to the extra weight of the Beyers vs the Senn 650/540. 1990s are well-suited for tube rolling as well. Quite revealing. Of course, tube rolling is a different, more expensive obsession than headphone modding.
Enjoy the journey!
