Those of you who remember the old days will remember Alex in Australia from the Rock Grotto days. A very knowledgeable guy who loved his hifi and was very much into digital audio, developing amps ... all kinds of things.
Sadly, he passed away yesterday.
I found it quite relevant that he passed on April 1st because Alex was an unbelievable joker who took great pleasure sending out all kinds of daft jokes to a group of us and has done this continually for years! He had me laughing via email in very dark times for me at one time.
I was very grateful for his support when I became ill and he regularly wrote to me with suggestions that he’d picked up concerning my illness.
I am glad that he passed quickly, since from what I was told by his grandson, he was in hospital for a day after suddenly taking ill and passed in his sleep, so hopefully didn’t suffer too much.

He will be missed. His jokes were classic. They always cheered me up when things weren’t going well. I learned a lot from him. Thanks Alex. R.I.P.

RIP Alex In my early days on Rock Grotto Alex & Frans taught me so much and both were very happy to help even though at times they did not see eye to eye. Alex was a character and half and like so many of you have already said it was his jokes that so many of us loved and it is ironic that he passed away on April fools day.
He will be sadly missed

Strange coincidence? In the night from last Wednesday to Thursday I thought of DIYAH rather by chance. Afterwards I briefly looked around on the forum and saw the news about Alex's death.
It makes me already very sad, because I knew Alex from RG and had quite a long time to do with him. I take some comfort in the fact that Alex lived to a proud age and that he apparently did not suffer.
I have to apologize for not getting in touch sooner, but it was primarily because I hardly had time last week, which by the way was also the reason why I wasn't on DIYAH after 2017.
In 2017, I had my final exam as an ICT systems and network engineer and I was under a lot of pressure. After that I had to concentrate on my new job and other things and therefore lost sight of DIYAH and my audio hobby.
