If you have a potmeter around I can tell you where to connect which wires.
Will have to wait till tomorrow though.

Found this which illustrates perfectly what needs to be built:

you are great! I can just buy the potentiometer and I'll let you know. For now I try without resistor. Thank you again

what do you recommend to use potentiometer 1k, 2k, 5k. What precautions should I use to avoid damaging the radio amplifier or the PC sound card?
thank

no precautions needed.
1k will be fine, if you can't get it look for 2k or 2k2 or 2k5 otherwise a 5k
Logarithmic or linear doesn't matter that much.
The wires to the speaker output do not have to be screened. The ones coming from the wiper (middle pins) should be screened wire.

I did everything you told me, and everything is ok! The radio works well on the mic and line-in input sound card. Turning the potentiometer I always get a very good sound quality.
thanks for everything

not looked in on this thread before but after flicking through it i am thinking of trying my lcd2 from my marantz speaker amp, taking the lazy option (as always) by getting a hifiman he-adapter. hifilounge.co.uk/hifiman-he-adapterthe output of my speaker amp is quoted as..... RMS 70W into 8ohm. RMS 100W into 4ohm. DIN 80W into 8ohm. DIN 120W into 4ohm. would this work?

Using a power amp directly is possible. Max output voltage = 24V = 8W = 140dB SPL = hearing damage level.
The travel on the volpot may be very small. just barely touching the volume control may already be too loud. Otherwise an adapter is a possibility.

i would not attempt it without an adapter, i was just curious to know if the "HE-adapter" would work ok with stock resistors or would they need changing?

The HE adapter is a set of very expensive resistors in a box but it'll probably work well.

Syd yeah i see that earlier in the thread. thats what gave me the idea. they can be had for £80 now . have not ruled out making one myself. just struggling to work out the resistor values from the tables in the blog. the power table for instance shows the lcd2 rated at 15W, far above any other. i thought this must be a mistake. the he-adapter just takes the hassle out of the equation. drawback being the need for an 4pin xlr to se adapter, could end up looking like a pigs ear.

I no longer use the Sugden/ Hifiman adapter combo. The Sugden is a lovely amp but bulky and heavy and I needed the space for a BD recorder. So it's back in the storage cupboard, I really must sell it sometime.
I had a look and the adapter box is here, altered internally as per what this thread shows. The original components might be around but can't be sure without a search through a LOT of parts boxes
The cable from the adapter to the HE6 is a male to female 4 pin din and the HE6 cable plugs in, as the HE6 comes with an XLR to headphone plug lead in two parts. The cable I used is 2.5 mtrs of Van Damme Tour Grade Classic XKE Quad mic cable 268.126.000 Ultra Pure Silver Plated OFC in black, just so you know exactly what it's called! I found it absolutely fine for this use and it's nice and flexible in use. Plugs are Neutrik.
I'm happy to sell it if you want it, £55 for the lot plus your choice of post at cost, no problem if you're not interested.
I can't promise that I have the original resistors but I would have a good search for them if you did want them.
Syd
