I have a fully functioning Amanero USB board that cooperates beautifully with my HT PC and hi-fi. I have a Logitech Squeezebox Touch that does not now get much use because the Amanero is so much better. Recently a forum friend contacted me singing the praises of the latest EDO app. (Enhanced Digital Output) for the Touch which can set to output through USB only. Putting the Touch output through the Amanero board produced total silence even though the Touch played the tracks. Is this to do with the Amanero board being designed to process I2S and the Touch not outputting signals in that format? TIA, Dave.

I'm sorry Dave but I know nothing about the SBT. I've tried the fatntastic Daphile player ( www.daphile.com) which is based on the SBT's software and can even be controlled using the same apps on Android/iOS devices but at the hardware level they are very different beasts, one runs on propietary hardware whereas the latter runs on any PC. BTW, for anyone with an old and unused PC gathering dust the Daphile app is agreat way tu turn it into a remote controlled music server for free (recommended a USB DAC) and etremelly easy to setup and use too.

Hi Javier, I am very interested in Daphile and so is a friend on another forum so I'll follow that program with interest. I do have a very underused PC in the 'office', (aka 'pigsty' ) on which I could load the Daphile program to audition it. I don't suppose it would possibly run on a Raspberry Pi would it? - I know the Logitech Touch has very limited processing power so I wondered if the Pi would run it similarly? I have just bought a basic Pi as a Christmas present for myself and it would make an interesting project perhaps . Dave.

Daphile works on PCs only. The good thing about it is that there is no installation so you don't load it in your Windows. It is a full self contained operating system with integrated music player software and, of course, all network related stuff. You DL the ISO image from the site, load into onto a USB pen drive (at least 2GB in size) and you boot your PC from it. It is a "headless" server, meaning you don't do anything on it and therefore there is no need for a monitor, keyboard or mouse. Everything is done from another computer or device either using a web browser or a Logitech remote app. It sort of turns the old PC into a music fire & forget appliance. It works great with the Amanero board. The best thing about it is that as it is not installed in the PC nor does it alter the internal HDD in any way, the moment you want or need to you can reboot from internal HDD and get your Windows back as if nothing had happened.
