Exactly, so the amp very often doesn't even need to produce a wide dynamic range really. Something I have literally had quite a few barnies over with companies producing CDs who insist that they know best.
The music becomes a shadow of what it was at the source. Just a loud mess. Unfortunately, an amp can't sort that out.

It's crazy o'clock here & I'm listening to James through the Polaris & I've got to say it's a damn fine amp. Hmm...

He takes a lot of pride in his work, as does Frans. You got me curious about James. They toured with Neil Young over here, but apparently only had a minor hit in the States. I just ordered a copy of Gold Mother. Hope it's a good one from them.

Gold Mother was their first & probably best studio album. Government Walls is an excellent tune, as well as the busy, trippy, Gold Mother herself. After their first album they gradually started to take themselves more seriously which is usually the beginning of the end for bands imo.

A different 'flavour' to the Ember but hints of tube likeness!! I like both a lot and use them with different headphones. The Polaris has a lighter touch.

i guess any comparison with Ember would largely depend on what tube you have in the latter?

Frans will know. I'd suggest zero output impedance and high power for now. Wide bandwidth. If it's sharp in the treble, you could always try medium bandwidth.

the demo Polaris will be on it's way to Mick in the morning. i have not had chance to give it reasonable headtime, as i have too much going on (as some of you know). sorry for the wasted time, i should have realized this would be the case. hope you enjoy it Mick.
