This guy has a really good album that's very well recorded, called 'Get Onboard'. Vocal blues based music and the recording has a bass that's absolutely rock solid in a headphone.
First track, 'I Live for the Spirit I Am' has an amazing, solid bass attack and has a lovely balance to the mix, although the vocals are very close mic'd. I would have preferred him back more in the mix with the band but it's good stuff.

Been listening to good blues since I was about 8 or 9 years old. Found Eric Bibb about ten or twelve years ago, and like most of his stuff. Funny you mentioned "Spirit I Am" Ian, it's one of my favourites from that album.
If you like "Get Onboard", try "Painting Signs".
Stand out tracks for me are 'Hope in a Hopeless World' (with Pops Staples on vocals), 'I Heard the Angels Singing', and the sublime 'Five Miles Above'.
When I've had enough of the hard stuff like Joe Bonamassa, Walter Trout or SRV, I stick on some Eric Bibb.
BTW, all his albums are really well recorded.

Thanks Jeff. I'll have a listen to Painting Signs. I do like the only album of his that I have.

Stand out tracks for me are 'Hope in a Hopeless World' (with Pops Staples on vocals) Getting mixed up with another album with Pops Staples on it - Pops Staples does not do the vocals on this track it's still wonderful though. Having a listen now - forgot how gorgeous the slide on 'Five Miles Above' is, really slow and lazy and expressive.

Some of the stuff on this album reminds me of Robert Cray actually.
Another nice one from him - Natural Light. Chris recommended it to me.

Actually, now I've heard it, 'Natural Light' is a really lovely album. Really well recorded and some lovely material. There's a really good slow blues number called 'Gratefully Blue' and just at the end of the previous track, they speak. I was half asleep, wearing my T40's and nearly shot out of my chair. It was SO lifelike that it sounded to me as though someone had come into the room!! Then I was properly awake for the blues number!!
